It was a bit by accident we stayed here. But they offered pool, tennis court and games room which was good for kids. Copious breakfast and handy mini bar fridge in the room. I liked the way the room opened out onto a couryard so each room had its own front door. The lady who runs it only speaks German, which was fine for us.

The area looks out to the Tejo river with sweeping views and there are simple Portuguese restaurants to eat at, great prices and you can practice your language as one place we went to didn't have any spoken English and only one hand written menu. It was great, fresh fish & jug of wine for two under 20 euros. Alcochete is not a scenic place so I wouldn't recommend it for that.

The place is located just in front of the Tagus river in lovely old Alcochete, but I wouldn't recommended it since the rooms are very old fashion and poorly maintained. In our case the sink would quickly get full of water when having it running and the toilet wouldn't stop running water after flashing it! That's just bad. There is no main hall to seat around or bar or room service. The pool is old and without enough space for chairs to lay down there during the day. The front doors are tiny with old fashion keys and no real facilities to enjoy for the amount of money you pay! As for the service it looks like all the staff are permanent residents there and they never had any kind of hotel training, as we did found them useless and even rude. Bad experience when you have a proper hotel just 100 m away.

We stayed here with 3 children. Perfect room with a double bed and an attic with 3 single beds. Spotless. Garden with pool is beautiful. It's only a stonethrow away from Lisbon but very quiet. However plenty of nice restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast is awesome! We should have stayed longer...

I could not have concluded a fabulous month in Portugal with a more memorable night than that spent in Alcochets at the Quinta da Praia das Fontes. Yes, it was a challenge to locate BUT the effort was well worth it. Our room was wonderful - and we were even greeted by an inviting fire! The hostess was charming - Breakfast was most enjoyable and served in a wonderful area with glorious brick arched ceiling... Yes - all this plus being so close to the airport... Something I will certainly look forward to doing again - but next time for two nights.

Room tip: Our room faced the courtyard - and was a twin bedded superior room. Amazing

It may not be the easiest to find but you absolutely wish for nothing less.
When you walk into the courtyard it is peaceful and tranquil.
The staff are an absolute pleasure.
Please remember this is NOT a hotel but a true slice of Portuguese living.
It is rustic and charming.

If, like me, you have cold feet then keep your socks on. The terracotta tiles in the rooms are cold. We stayed for a rainy couple of days in April and the heating in the room is easy to use and once warmed, the room (Quinta 7) stayed warm for a long time. Too warm as my husband had to open a window :)

Lovely windows overlooking the garden.

Breakfast is a simple affair but perfectly organised.
There is no evening meal here but plenty of wonderful places to eat in Alcochete.

We will absolutely be returning.
What a great find.
Thank you so much for being so welcoming and friendly. It was a pleasure to stay with you.
