This is the 16th manor house of what was once a large estate. Though much of the land has been sold over the years, the walled property still covers most of a block. We chose Alcochete because we had an early flight the next morning and didn't want to battle Lisbon traffic; this was a great solution--20 minutes to the airport and much more character than a chain hotel. Alcochete is a small village, but enjoyable for our last night in Portugal.

Our room was large, clean and furnished with antiques. The woman who welcomed us was very friendly and showed us around the property--a lovely walk down a bougainvillea alley, sheep, an orchard, the swimming pool. We let her know we had to leave before breakfast to catch our flight, and she delivered a tray of fruit, breads, yogurt and milk (room had a mini fridge) so we could eat before leaving. Thank you for the warm hospitality.

Arross the river from Lisbon Alcochete is a sleepy village with plenty of restaurants. It was windswept when we were there but quite hot during our stay. This hotel has some charm but is tired. Our room was spacious and the bed comfy but our bath had been painted with white paint which was peeling off in large lumps. The gardens were a nice feature and what attracted us to the hotel but they were very unkempt. The grass lwas uncut lproviding grazing for a couplenof sheep! With a little effort it could be beautiful but at the moment there is a lot of bare earth and tatty upright chairs by the pool whic is raised off the ground. It is also bang next door to a primary school and the children are very noisy as they are in the playground all day during thevweek so if you are after a peaceful time to sunbathe this is not for you. We saw no sign of any management only a couple of maids during our stay.

This visit was a true surprise
Not wanting to have an overnight in Lisbonne, we came onto Alcochete
The city itself did not have many great restaurants, but the Quinta is a real place and sanctuary
Nice garden with many secret test places, nice clear swimming pool, tennis court and reading corners in the shade.
Room very quiet, with charm although a little outdated.
Nevertheless we were glad to have this experience

A charming courtyarded villa in a very pleasant small town, with a fine sea front and many good restaurants. The Q de P staff could not have been more helpful, the breakfasts were good, the rooms spacious and comfortable, and the gardens and pool charming. Within striking distance of Lisbon, too.

We stayed in Alcochete for 5 nights. I can't say enough good things about this place. When you first enter through these big iron gates you come upon a courtyard with rooms on the left and rooms on the right. All around the courtyard are trees and the smell of gardenias is all around you. My room, #7, was quite large, with 2 chairs, enough clothing storage for 2-3 people. But best of all our windows opened up to their back yard where you could see a canopy of flowers, fruit trees, sheep, chickens and I saw a small pool when I went for a walk. Since it was April the pool was not filled, so cannot give a review on that. They also have a game room which is good for kids (and adults), pool table, foozeball and ping pong. I also saw 3 bicycles in there. Breakfast was included for the price. It was continental with a lot of variety. The best part for me was that the people that worked there were very nice, my room was very clean and it is right across the street from the river. At night we would take long walks and watch the sunset. I do have to mention that it was hard to find and missed it the first time. But once you find it, guaranteed you'll want to come back. Alcochete itself is a very beautiful quaint little town - not to be missed.
