If you want authenticity when you visit abroad, look no further than this hotel and the lovely town of Alcochete, only half an hour south of Lisbon. We stayed at this old 17th century farm building in February primarily for a break from grey Essex and to do some "birding" in warmer climate. We were not disappointed! The staff did not speak much English (but you're alright with German) but that did not matter to get by as everything was provided for your needs. The room was well heated but just in case another heater was brought in our room one day: it was not needed. The staff was lovely and I was surprised with a birthday cake with candle and flowers even though I had not let on it was a special holiday! (my passport must have done the trick!). We hired a car to get to bird reserves but you could cycle from the hotel to some lovely spots. Plenty to do if you love nature and we did not even have time to visit Lisbon. We'll have to return!

Room tip: all ground floor rooms but stairs to get down to breakfast

We really enjoyed the historical feel of this place. The room was spacious with a lovely sitting area and also included two curtained sitting alcoves with a total of six chairs. TV shows played in English with Portuguese subtitles. WIFI worked fine. There is a beautiful cobblestoned courtyard where our room was located and the orange trees were loaded with fruit. There is a wheelbarrow at the entrance to be used for the suitcases as they might not roll easily on the cobblestones. The bed was huge and even though it was slightly hard, we had a good night sleep regardless. No cost for parking next to the main entrance of the hotel. The breakfast consisted of fresh fruit, sliced meat and cheese, soft boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal etc. and is served in a lovely cavernous cellar with some background music. The chef was kind enough to pack us a picnic lunch. We arrived late at night and found it a bit difficult to see the entrance of the hotel from the street. There is a ping pong table and pool table in one of the buildings in the courtyard. We were delighted to return to the room late in the day and find some orange juice and fresh cake set out on a tray.
Vitor and Salete were very friendly and helpful and took very good care of us during our stay.

Room tip: We had room 6 in the courtyard and there were a couple of wicker chairs just outside the door.

Alcochete was a pleasant surprise. A lovely little town away from the hustle and bustle of Lisbon and yet close to Lisbon Portela Airport. Only 20 - 30 minutes drive to get from the Quinta to the airport via the Ponte Vasco da Gama.
The Quinta Praia da Fonte is a nice place that takes you back to other times. The rooms are big and comfy and very authentic. The bathroom is huge and has a heater for when it gets chilly. The breakfast room is impressive: very charming and good choice for breakfast. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Parking was no problem. Entrance was a bit hard to find. But what a surprise once we entered the patio area. Lots of restaurants around in the area that you can walk to. It'll take you a couple of minutes only. The waterfront area is beautiful with lovely views towards Lisbon. Ideal hotel for when you want to go birding in the area (in the arrozais / lezirias and in Sitio das Hortas). We saw 1000 of flamingos and lots of storks. Loved the place!

We were very comfortable in our accommodation - the room was spacious and traditionally furnished. It was very clean and had everything we needed - a kettle with tea making supplies, lots of hot water and an air conditioning fan. Breakfast was good and the staff were very helpful and keen to please. The local area was very interesting and had a good selection of restaurants.

This hotel is honestly the most beautiful place I have ever been in my life!
The rooms are delicately beautiful, looking like the bedroom of ancient royalty! Plus wifi was available in the rooms which was a massive perk.
The grounds are what makes this hotel worthy of 5*, the gardens are breathtaking, with orange trees as far as the eye can see.
The pool was lined with stone, so much nicer than artificial blue tiles.
Mariana who works at the hotel was very sweet and chatty, and even made sure a lemon cake was made especially for us!!
Breakfast was in an old wine cellar, with soft music playing in the background.

Only fault was that we weren't a massive fan of fish, and this hotel is situated in a fishing community. Although we were satisfied with the meals available in restaurants every night!!

Would definitely return to this hotel.
