"Cozy" seemed to be a major consideration for several TA reviewers. We had no such issue. It's not cozy, but it's a nice, clean place, with good food and a neighborhood feel - and it's pretty popular with tourists and locals alike. Personally, I liked the atmosphere. We dined outside and chatted with a couple of women at the next table who let me pet their dog. It was quiet, except for some pleasant church bells and the faint sound of the nearby river. I gave the place an Average for romance because we enjoyed it and we were on a bucket-list trip.
The food tends toward the fast food end of the scale, but there are exceptions. We went for a bacon mac & cheese and a 1/2 chicken with fries. Both dishes were very good and reasonably priced - by Norway standards.
We enjoyed it. The only real drawback for us was the fact that the kro doesn't open until 11 AM, so we had to look elsewhere for breakfast.
