Description: Rjukans oldest and most traditional cafe opened July 14, 2015 The traditional Kinokafeen housed in the protected Rjukan house that was finished in 1930, then as the People's House. We can tempt with snacks, cakes and ala carte menu. The new concept for Kinokafeen cooperates with "Taste of Telemark" who bet heavily on getting locally produced quality food from Telemark on dining place.

We went to Rjukan to climb Gaustatoppen and stopped by Kinokafeen for a nice lunch before our big trip. The menu selection had a lot of different types of meals, ranging from something smaller, light meals to larger dinners and others.

We had the fried pork belly and parsley sauce, which is a danish meal we call "Flesk og duppe". The portions were rather generous, and quite tasty. It really hit the spot before our long mountain hike.

We returned a few days later and ended up having to wait a couple of hours because we missed our bus. We grabbed a light bite and a couple of drinks as we didn't wanted to just sit there for free, but the staff were quite friendly and had no problems with us occupying a table. We really appreciated that!

Went there with two of my colleagues and had dinner. Got there right before the kitchen closed, but they met us with smiles and a great time. The menu was limited, so we chose the bacon cheeseburger, which came with a homemade bun and local meat. It was great, and the waiter was really nice and welcoming. The burgers and drinks were a bit overpriced, but all in all a lovely place in a small town.

Cafe was recommended to us and easy to see why. Very good service, and high-quality food. The 500gm T bone is definitely good value and delicious.
We also tried the Telemark fish soup once earlier. It was equally good.
