Description: Rjukans oldest and most traditional cafe opened July 14, 2015 The traditional Kinokafeen housed in the protected Rjukan house that was finished in 1930, then as the People's House. We can tempt with snacks, cakes and ala carte menu. The new concept for Kinokafeen cooperates with "Taste of Telemark" who bet heavily on getting locally produced quality food from Telemark on dining place.

Went there with two of my colleagues and had dinner. Got there right before the kitchen closed, but they met us with smiles and a great time. The menu was limited, so we chose the bacon cheeseburger, which came with a homemade bun and local meat. It was great, and the waiter was really nice and welcoming. The burgers and drinks were a bit overpriced, but all in all a lovely place in a small town.

Cafe was recommended to us and easy to see why. Very good service, and high-quality food. The 500gm T bone is definitely good value and delicious.
We also tried the Telemark fish soup once earlier. It was equally good.

This cafe/restaurant has been there since 1930, and has for most of these years been a local favourite.
Summer 2015 the cafe opened again after house refurbishments and closure for some time, but is no open with new locally based foods and new staff.
Reasonable priced meals, deserts or the place for just a coffee or a pint.
Great outdoor restaurant, even greater indoor.
Offers a good variety of vines and food service.
Looks like this new establishment has some serious plans.

My meal was on opening day, and not from the menu, but being able to choose dishes as you wish on a large plate was both reasonable and very good. Pity I couldn't eat more. Will soon be back!

Kinokafeen was the original workers cafe located in a marvelous Art Deco building from 1935. The cafe was legendary for decades, more for beer than the food. And most Rjukanadults have great memories from their youth there. Recent years its been closed, until now when its reopened. The new management have ambitions to try and recapture some of the glory of the past, with more emphasize on food than beer. They serve dishes of local origin, and the meny varies with the seasons. The staff are really friendly and with a lot of local knowledge. Best place to eat in Rjukan.
