Good for: Local cuisine
Dining options: Breakfast, Outdoor Seating
Description: Rjukans oldest and most traditional cafe opened July 14, 2015 The traditional Kinokafeen housed in the protected Rjukan house that was finished in 1930, then as the People's House. We can tempt with snacks, cakes and ala carte menu. The new concept for Kinokafeen cooperates with "Taste of Telemark" who bet heavily on getting locally produced quality food from Telemark on dining place.

This is a restaurant beside the moviehouse but it makes you feel it is a canteen because you order your food at the cashier and then you are told by the employee to get your own plate and utensils and bring it to your table.

I did not like the idea that the customers are asked to bring your own plate and utensils when the dishes rates are from 20 to 35 euro per person without drinks. They were 5 employees as I counted them and yet they did not bother to give extra service as to put the plates and utensils on their customers table. There were not so many customers either.

The pizza we ordered was Hawaiian and it was ok enough. Lots of cheese and the crust was soft. It wasn't so bad after all. There are not many choices in Rjukan unfortunately. In fact, you only have 3 choices in Rjukan and they are Ammonia Restaurant in the Park Hotel, a burger kiosk right infront of the taxi stand and this one. We decided to choose this one as the interior of the restaurant was the most modern and looks refreshing. Ammonia Restaurant felt stuffy and because we stayed in the hotel where this restaurant is located, I was afraid that their food was up to no good.

The pizza was good, but more expensive and smaller than at the other place we ate the day before. The staff helped us visiting the interesting exhibition in the basement of the cinema.
