“Ideal location for exploring the Veneto”
Reviewed July 4, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

As a base from which to explore the Veneto to the South and the pre-Dolomites to the North this suited us perfectly but I would have been equally happy to just sit on the terrace and relax for 10 days. Do None feels very rural surrounded by the densely wooded Asolian hills but only 10 minutes drive from the centre of Asolo. There is also a really good restaurant called La Trave (our favourite on this trip) that is only 5 minutes walk away. The architect designed apartment, within an old farm building, is small but very well designed. Davide was a perfect host and his visitors book testifies to how much people have loved staying here.

“Perfect Peace”

For a place to stay and travel out from, this is simply perfect. A converted barn with architectural elegance combines a tranquil, rural apartment with city style. The views of the pre- alps are wonderful. In the other direction is the attractive hill town of Asolo glowing in the evening sun. The apartment is compact but ideal for me and my young son. Small kitchen has all you need and bathroom is very clean and well designed.
A communal balcony provides an airy, sunny place to read, eat and feast on the views. We are on foot but public transport and local walks are all easy. Lots of animals around as it is next to a small holding. Ideal for kids. The owner is a great host as well.

“When you've had enough of Tuscan hilltowns, Do None is what you need.”

Do None is a very good concept extremely well-executed. The idea is simple - take a traditional barn and live in it as a barn – don’t turn it into a slick apartment. Not that Do None isn’t slick enough. It’s very modern, done with impeccable taste. But the trick in a conversion of preserving the way a building works is much harder to do than you’d think.

Most of the ‘living’ is done in the semi-open parts – either the timbered upper level or the ground-level terrace with fireplace – so that you’re fully engaged with the rural setting. The outlook to Asolo is superb (close enough to walk) and the near view is even better – the entertainment of small farm life with the nonna next door who looks after the 4 cows, the chooks, geese, vegetables and just about everything else.

The apartments themselves are relatively small, though we had friends down from Denmark for 4 days and the 2 couples fitted in easily. So they’re not that small. We like to hunt out unusual local produce and cook when we travel. Not only was there a great range of facilities and equipment, but the knives were actually sharp!

We originally picked Do None because Asolo was most central to all the places we wanted to go (from Venezia to Vicenza to the Dolomites), and it looked cool on the website. We stayed 10 days, but could have done with longer. What we hadn’t counted on was the immediate surroundings of Asolo and the Asolean hills. To say they’re charming is a ridiculous understatement.

Finally, Davide. Welcoming, relaxed, flexible... Whenever you needed him he was there (for like, where’s the best place to park in Treviso?), but when you didn’t it felt as though the place was actually ours. A bigger trick than the conversion or the blend of sophistication and the rural is that, for as long as you’re there, he’s managed to make Do None feel as though it’s your home. In the hospitality business, that’s very hard and he does it very well.
