Located down a narrow and quiet side street away from the main piazza (and the heat of the lunchtime sun) this is a little treasure we felt lucky to stumble across. Local trout with salsa verde bruschetta was an inspired start and followed by spaghetti vongole with cherry tomatoes and a generous helping of clams: simple and totally delicious.
The waitress (and owner?) was friendly and helpful and got the food to us in good order. Between her limited English and my poor Italian we managed very well.
Would definitely return.

My husband and I visited Maggiolini to find a good place to eat in Trevi. We heard about it from a friend and decided to check it out. We heard there was an extensive fish menu but were surprised to find fish, seafood and various types of meat dishes.

Despite the heat, we ate indoors even though there was a lovely outdoors eating area. The inside was not hot but were pleasantly greeted with linen tablecloths and nicely appointed tables and chairs covered as if ready for a wedding.

The lovely hostess explained the menu and made recommendations for which we were very grateful. Although we were ready to order melon and prosciutto, she told us that it was available almost anywhere in Umbria and that their specialties included a marinated trout with a special sauce and also special cheeses with a particular sweet celery salsa. We tried both of them and were not at all disappointed. The trout was lightly marinated, tender and delicious. The cheeses from Norcia were out of this world. There were 2, one young and one caved for 12 months. The second one melted in your mouth and you dreaded when the last piece was gone.

I ordered a sesame crusted tuna which was lightly pan fried and tender while my husband had a veal fillet with a truffle sauce which was delicate and delicious. The meat was tender and perfectly cooked.

The best is saved for the last. I ordered the cannolis and my husband the cassata. He grew up in Guatemala having cassata, one of the traditional Sicilian desserts, almost every Sunday. We have been looking for this dessert for about 35 years. Who knew we would find it in Umbria, not Sicily (where we have been and they were not to his liking.). It was light with just the right amount of candied fruit and nuts in this semifreddo style chunk of heaven. Wow! The cannoli shell was tender and fell apart with the first bite while the cream was not too sweet and not too thick. The ends were coated in crushed pistachio nuts. I grew up in the east and had many really good cannolis but this was a great cannoli.

Ahh. Then there was coffee. What a wonderful lunch and we plan to return to sample the rest of the menu. We saw some plates of clams and pasta and mussels and pasta and then just some mussels go past us. So, There is more to be discovered for us.

You need to check this out. If you think Trevi doesn’t have a lot to offer, you need to come here. You will love the hostess and the chef and they are so accommodating, like family. Also, the price is right!

I left feeling related to them.

Patricia and Walter continue to provide delicious food. They are delightful hosts. The menu is full of choice, fresh local ingredients inventively prepared. Fish is always good whether cooked or presented as carpaccio. Their house white, an intriguing blend of Viognier and Grillo from Sicily is delicious. Every time we come to this area we make a point to dine at La Magiolini.

we popped into Trevi for lunch as we were after some traditional italian food, and were greeted by the wonderful waitress who was very warm and helpful. the food was delicious and we were all very impressed by the dishes especially the desserts- which were homemade by the waitress herself! located just off of the main piazza it has a great ambience and it’s not too hot to sit outside to eat. we would definitely recommend and we will be back the next time we were in trevi

We visited Trevi and decided to stop for dinner. This restaurant is near the main square. Really good, local food, accommodating host and excellent value for money.

Try the trout and the celery!
