“The real stuff in Tuscany”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

We used to frequent this place years ago during visits to Toscana, but hadn't been in perhaps 5 years or so, making this visit a "hope it hasn't changed" kind of moment. No surprises - in a good way as the food is still great, with the boss watching over your fiorentina steak like it was his baby as it sizzles on the grill. Good wine list though they were out of our favorite from Muralia, so we subbed a Morellino di Scansano from nearby Moris Farms. This continues to be our first choice when in this area, the first-timers to Italy who dined with me were blown away by their first real Tuscan feast!

“Good food, language problems”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2012

We were a big group (15), so some confusion about meny and amount of food. Lack of English as quite usual in Tuscany. Some of us speak french, spanish and a some words of italian, but the special meny with prices pr. kilo confused us. Quality of food and drink was excellent. Morisfarms wines ( especially Vermentino) are our favourite after staying at the property Tenuta Pogetti

“Perfectly OK but nothing stunning”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2012

Just a nice meal - but nothing special.

The food was perfectly OK, the wine adequate, the service reasonable. There aren't any views and the decor though perfectly nice just didn't thrill.

“The best meal of my life...truffles and more truffles!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2010

Great food. Great presentation. Great service and friendly staff. What more can I say? Delicious home pade pasta...ask for any dish with truffles...unforgettable and the best meal we had during our entire holiday in Europe. Ask your hotel to book this place as it is the best in Italy! Order mixed starter plate followed by pasta and veal with truffles...mouth watering dishes and great selection of wine too!

“Fantastic food and atmosphere!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2009

This restaurant is mentioned in "The Food Lover's Companion to Tuscany" published in 1998 and we were so delighted to find that it is still in Massa Marittima and their salumi, soups and grilled meats are still memorable. It is a beautiful old stone room(s) with an open wood fireplace where our wild boar was roasted. There were four of us and we requested that they serve us their specialities. We were not disappointed and so pleased that we returned the following night. Since we had a very steep climb from our Duca de Mar hotel, it was a relief to find this restaurant just inside the city walls! Very good selections of wine too!
