I loved this place! The Castle is beautiful and the staff is wonderful. Enjoyed breakfast on the terrace with the beautiful view. Dinner in the Dining Room was terrific, they treated us like we were royalty. The Spa was included and very nice with lots of different things to enjoy, wish i could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: The Castle rooms are beautiful but a little smaller. The bigger rooms are more private with better view. But, no matter which room you stay in it is a beautiful place. Very close to Winery's, the town square & a great little cooking school Toscana Mia's.

We stayed for 2 nights. Took the train from Ligure to Firenze and rented a car to drive into Chianti. Easy process for the most part. Great hotel the grounds are well kept and amazing. The new spa is top notch. All staff was a great help and spoke very good English. Will be back.

I cannot say enough nice things about our visit to CDS! It is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been to. The location, the amenities and above all the staff make a visit to CDS forever memorable. I cannot wait to return!! Don't miss eating at the restaurant - the chef is a genius!!

We spent 6 nights at Castello di Spaltenna on a honeymoon. It is a truly fantastic place and one of the few examples when reality is even better than on the photos. A truly medieval architecture, with an old church, where it is always cool however excruciating heat is outside, picturesque scenery all around, highly professional staff, amazing breakfasts on a terrace outside - this is not a simple hotel but a masterpiece. We've been to many hotels in many countries, and this is one of, if not the most, memorable stay.
Better rent a car to drive to all fantastic towns, villages and castles - Siena is 40 mins away, San Gimignano is a bit more than an hour - and a great deal more in a closer vicinity.

The best, most welcoming, caring and most enjoyable stay we had in Tuscany. And we stayed at three different top destinations.

Beds were maybe a little on the hard side, but no problem for us. Great scenery at breakfast and it was perfect to loan bikes and tennis rackets.
