We stayed in April 2012 - TA doesn't let me choose that year. I was requested to repeat my review because the name was changed.
We stayed at this villa for four nights but it was just not long enough. We were two couples and really enjoyed the house as well as the location. We rented a car and drove from Florence, and explored Siena, San Giamagno and the wine country from this location. Unfortunately the weather was lacking when we were there (rain) so we did not get to enjoy the outside as much as we would have liked, although we did try out the spa (hot tub to us Canadians) and enjoyed the fireplace nightly. Gabrielle prepared the hot tub for us and brought us plenty of firewood for the length of our stay. This house is less than 30 minutes from Siena, which was great as we went there on Sunday to get groceries and again another evening. People staying here should be aware that you will need to bring your basics with you, which is apparently not uncommon in Italy however, most other places we stayed had sugar, salt, oil and toilet paper sufficient for a short stay. We thought the two single beds pushed together were more comfortable than the master, which would be my only criticism as being in need of replacement. The house is rustic, and I would probably compare it to staying at a cabin as it had the amenities but was not luxurious.
Gabrielle was very friendly and accommodating and his attention certainly added to our stay. The location was excellent and the surrounding area beautiful. The nearby town Gaiole had great restaurants and we ate out two nights. I would definitely return to this villa.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- On the highest point of a hill set among the mosaic of the vineyards, typical of the Chianti Classico area, in the heart of a medieval village, you'll find the Pieve Marsina. The house, composed of delightful apartments, has as it's main objective the idea of offering guests the opportunity to enjoy the calm, the beauty and all the pleasures our region has to offer. For this reason our apartments have been renovated with respect for tradition: you'll find antique terracotta floor tiles, walls of warm colours, discovered during renovation work, large stone and brick fireplaces and magnificent porticos with a magical atmopshere. Under one of these fully renovated porticos we have installed a relaxing Jacuzzi for 3-5 people. Essential oils for aromatic sensations, relaxing music, fragrances and flavours that liberate the mind. Three comfortable dechchairs for relaxing before and after bathing. Perfect on summer evenings and cold winter days. ... more less
