It is really the best location if you want to spend time in Tuscany and use this as the base. It is also close to the highway so even if you want to drive at night, it feels very safe. The location itself is beautiful and the whole atmosphere is relaxing and chill. The staff is nice too.

We couldn't have chosen a better location for a family holiday for nine people including five generations and an age range from 3 - 88! While part of La Canonica, the Villa Castrum is completely private overlooking the beautifully kept Italian garden at the front and olive groves and the private villa pool to the rear. The accommodation is stunning and has been carefully and thoughtfully restored to a very high standard. A ground floor bedroom was perfect for our older family member. A well equipped kitchen enabled us to enjoy many family meals in the outdoor dining area. All the staff were tremendously helpful and the availability of three cleans during a two week stay was especially good. Day trips to San Gimignano, Volterra, Siena and Firenze were very easy and nearby San Donato is delightful. In a very hot two weeks, the air conditioned bedrooms were especially welcome.

Hello Tim and Karen,
it is a great pleasure to read your nice comments. We are happy you enjoyed your stay at the villa, which we think it is really a wonderful accommodation for large families as yours, who have the possibility to stay altogether on holiday. Pools and gardens are there for the little ones to have fun and for the grown up to relax while reading a book or drinking a good Chianti wine in total privacy.
We wish you and your beautiful family all the best

We 've booked a big Villa for a family of 5 persons for 7 nights.
When you enter the property you see a very well-kept garden. The lady at the reception was nice and helpful.
The villa was not very clean. Many lamps didn't work. The promised Wi-Fi worked only in the area of the main-door (the villa had 2 floors!). The washing machine made also problems. The Douche-Cabin was old with mould stains..
Our youngest child got a bed to sleep, which was very uncomfortable with a very thin mattress. She slept the whole week with us in bed.
On the first evening they organised dinner for the price of 30 Euro per person (children paid the full price). This dinner was the worst we've eaten in our 17-days stay in Tuscany.
It was very hot (35 degrees) and there were a lot of mosquitos. It's pitty there were no mosquito-nets like in other accomodations we've visited during our stay.
The swimming pool was ok, but got closed already at 18:30. In summer and especially when you make day-trips it's pitty the pool was not opened until later.
When we checked out the lady from the reception forced us to take the garbage sack with us in the car to the gabage container 300 meters away and this for the price of 1650 Euro per week!
The level of the villa was 2-3 stars, not very clean and not well kept. Sanitary equipment lousy.
We are ready to pay a lot of money in order to stay in good places, especially if you stay a whole week. Here we had the feeling you don't get for what you've paid for.
Our opinion is, that we have paid much too much in La canonica. We've paid for a luxury-Villa and got a simple (not clean) one!
We didn't enjoy our stay in La Canonica. We will not come back and we do not recommend this place.

Dear Sir,
thank you for your time and review. We are very sorry to read this type of feedback, mostly because we are here every day and you did not mention a word about your disappointment during the whole stay.
Our office is open every day; we have asked you more than once if you were happy; everything could have been fixed during your stay if you told us, now you have left, and nothing can be done.
We could have changed your child bed, if it was so uncomfortable, or send again our housekeeper to clean your apartment if this was dirty; it is the first time we receive complain about cleanliness. The washing mashine had problems in starting at the begininning, but finally it worked. We have also offered you to wash your clothes in our laundry,
Wi fi normally workes in and outside your apartment, on ground floor; if this was not the case, you should have informed us so we could have called our technician.
We are sorry your did not enjoy your stay with us ; thank you for your critics, we will take them into great consideration and hope you will give us the opportunity to offer you a nicer stay in the future
Best regards

If you want to enjoy Tuscany book this place!
The cities Sienna, San Gimignano, Volterra are close by and the village San Donato is only 2 km away where you can buy good quality local products (salami, cheese, wines)!
We had a nice apartment with an outdoor patio just a few steps from the garden and the swimming pool. Perfect to have your lunch.

The staff was very friendly and everything is very clean! Would definitely come back.

We have stayed four times now. It's in a perfect location in the heart of the Chianti region. A beautiful old village is a few minutes away and the area has lots of superb restaurants. It's an easy drive to Castellina, Firenze, San Giminagno and Siena.

The staff are wonderful, always helpful and the properties are clean and well kept. There is a nice swimming pool and lounge area for a relaxing day if you want to take a break from travelling.

We have recommended it to many friends and would highly recommend to anyone.

The kids enjoy the pool and various day trips and evening gelati in San Donato. There are various summer fairs and festivals on at this time of year and its a great base for going to them

Room Tip: Couples try Merrigio. Families, Tramonto, Bacco but all are very good

A beautiful retreat in a tranquil location only 30 minute drive to Florence. Poolside and grounds were immaculate and relaxing. The breakfasts were always fresh with excellent cappuccino. There is a nice selection of restaurants in the nearby town of San Donato as well. We spent 5 days exploring Tuscany including a one day bike tour to Castelina in Chianti and Siena from here.Tuscan charm at its finest!

My family stayed at one of the apartments at La Canonica di Cortine. The locations is great. We rented a car and spent one day in Siena and the next day in Florence. We also visited vineyards nearby and restaurants. The apartment was spacious for the four of us. There is a pool, although we had no time to use it due to our short stay. Great place to stay in Tuscany!

Room Tip: The apartment we stayed in has two bedrooms, perfect for a family of four.
