We spent 5 nights at this superb hotel, very romantic and excellent service. Palazzo Failla also hosted and catered the family wedding we were attending. Would recommend to other friends to visit. Thank you.

We spent 2 nights at this wonderful hotel in the red wallpapered room mentioned in another review. The room was very private and comfortable and the bathroom was palatial with stars on the ceiling and the most wonderful shower. The owners and Julia treated us like royalty and couldn't have been more attentive and helpful. The staff was wonderful. Breakfast was the best of our trip. I would return to this special hotel tomorrow if I could.

We spent three nights at the Hotel Palazzo Failla in Room 113D in early June 2013. We thought that our room was very romantic with red wallpapered walls depicting classical scenes, and a massive bathroom that included a double jacuzzi whereby two people could lie next to each other comfortably. The bathroom lights included a ceiling star constellation above the jacuzzi. There was a separate shower with its own spa/jet settings so water could beam out and "massage" your back, shoulders, feet, etc. The room also had a mainframe computer with free Internet access.
Apart from our room and the stylish hotel furnishings, the other standout feature was the hosts Mr and Mrs Failla, their daughter Julia and the other staff. They were always willing to help - to assist with transport, to help us book transfers and restaurants. They gave great restaurant recommendations and suggested how best to experience Modica on foot.
We highly recommend this hotel, and we would love to come back here again. This was one of our best hotel experiences. Hotel Palazzo Failla is a superb boutique hotel run with extreme attentiveness to making their guests stay as pleasurable as possible. We also ate at both restaurants and found them to be of a similar high standard.

We stayed here and loved the location and service. The hotel room was very clean and the shower/sauna was great except it wasn't easy to figure out. Dinner was good and it was fun to meet the chef. This is a quaint nice place to stay. Modica is very old, pretty, and a nice change from the big cities of Palermo and Catania.

We were at the Hotel Failla last week as part of a cooking tour organized by the International Kitchen. Everything about the tour was outstanding, including the cooking classes at the Michelin restaurant on premises and the daily escorted tours of southern Sicily. We and our friends would highly recommend it to anyone interested in such a trip.

But this is a review of the hotel itself. The hotel is more like an inn, as it has 10 rooms, each different. It is a family home for the Faillas, and our rooms, 103 and 104, were beautiful. They had 20 foot ceilings, painted like one sees in museums, and balconies that open out to the street in the small town. The people that own and run the hotel are very warm and friendly. Mr and Mrs Failla are usually around and want to make sure everything is going well. The young women at the front desk, Julia and Laura, are terrific. They are quite friendly and helpful. Any questions we had they had answers for, any restaurant suggestions we wanted they had suggestions for, and they always offerred help in finding or getting to or from places.

A continental breakfast is provided. It is okay, but nothing special. The waiters, Massimo and Salvatore, were very helpful as well. And for dinner, there is a Michelin restaurant on site, which is terrific. The head chef, Davide, is both a terrific chef and a very outgoing person.

The hotel is located in Modica, and there are many, many different touristic sites to see within an hour of it. They can help you organize escorted tours if you so choose.

In summary, what the Hotel Failla offers is a very high quality hotel experience combined with excellent, friendly service that Italians have become known for. It is really not to be missed.

Room Tip: Each room is different. I can only say that the rooms of ourselves and our friends (103 and 104) are...

The Palazzo Failla was a great place to stay. The service was excellent. The staff was friendly, attentive and capable. The associated restaurant, La Gazza Ladra, is a Michelin one-star site. The chef, David Tamburini, is excellent. The food was imaginative yet recognized the traditions of the area. There were three nice but less expensive restaurants in the area, all walkable - La Locanda da Colonelle, La Tevarena Nicostra, and Smile Pizzeria. A Bancomat, a pharmacy, and a small grocery store are also near the hotel.

Modica is a beautiful city. The local chocolates and ceramics are wonderful. Other nearby cities - Noto, Ragusa, Siracusa - were also beautiful, with their Sicilian Baroque architecture. Agrigento is about three hours from Modica by car.

Sicily is an overlooked gem, and this hotel is a great place from which to explore it.

Lovely little hotel, beautiful room with a sauna/ shower - a new experience not to be missed. The staff really make the place and were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable of the area. The restaurant is very nice but certainly not traditional or cheap. I understand it does hold a Michelin star and the flavours were impressive.
