“Sweets and chocolate”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2013

Maybe the oldest place in town for the famous Modica chocolate, sold in beautiful boxes, but a little bit on the expensive side. Perfect for a gift. Try the "cannoli", rolls filled on order with fresh ricotta cheese and sweets.

“A real Modican institution”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013

First things first, this is not a restaurant, it is a chocolate shop and a patisserie.
Any visit to the wonderful city of Modica is not complete until you have visited this wonderful little shop. Modican chocolate is a unique product steeped in the history of Sicily and its Spanish colonial past and Bonajuto is the place to experience it at its very best. The shop has all of the flavours available to taste, the only difficulty is deciding which is the best (70% cocoa or chilli for me) What is not quite as obvious is that the shop also sells a range of pastries, including amongst the best Cannoli I have ever tasted (which is saying something) and the most curious n'panarghiti (my poor attempt at spelling) pastries filled with chocolate, almonds and beef mince (yes that is correct). The shop is well worth seeking out and, unlike many places in this part of Sicily, English is spoken.

cannot really add more than my title. all Dolce made on the premises and you can meet the Chef and everything is made fresh to order. They even have meat dishes with the right chocolate.

“Great Chocolate”

Do not miss this place in Modica. It is a little hidden in an alley, but it is the best chocolate in Modica.

“Best chocolate around”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2012

We had difficulty finding the shop front, as our guide was wrong, but tucked down a lane way is the beautiful Dolceria Bonajuto chocolate shop/factory. You can taste as many of their dozens of chocolate varieties before buying. We bough a few of the chocolate tins (decorative tins) as these will last for ever, unlike the chocolates which had to be rationed otherwise they wouldn't have lasted a day, & we bough a fairly good range
