“STUNNING RESTORATION. SUOERB DINNERS. HELPFUL, FRIENDLY OWNERS.”
Reviewed June 28, 2014

My husband and I spent a week here in June. We were not disappointed. I admit that it's very difficult to find, as a viaduct between Comiso airport and destination had almost caved in and there were no diversion signs. The 45 min. journey took over 3 hours, but Philippo came to the rescue after we phoned him, and he came to Scicli so that we could follow him back.
Both he and Tina did their utmost to ensure that we had a lovely week with them.
The farm has been extensively and tastefully restored, with a beautiful swimming pool, elegant underfloor lighting in the evenings, and delicious meals taken at individual tables in the lovely dining room or outside under the archways at one long table with the other guests, weather permitting. The home-cooking and included wine was of a high standard.
I don't know why other reviewers have complained. Admittedly, the rooms and bathrooms are a little dated and the bedroom floor was never cleaned, but these were small details. All the public rooms and grounds were kept to a very high standard and the electric gates, for added security, made only the slightest sound.
We would be happy to return. If you like the Inspector Montalbano series on BBC4, then this is the place for you, with conducted tours of the Scicli "police station", the ruined "furnace" and the Catacombs of Ispica, all within a short drive. A little further afield is Punta Secca, with Montalbano's beachfront property and fabulous meals at Enzo da Mare, where he is often seen eating, Donnalucata and other settings of the series.
There are only 2 flights a week from UK to Comiso. There was no plane other than ours in the airport either when we arrived or departed, so a pushover to reach from UK. (apart from the lack of road signs and road numbers) The beaches are stunning and easy to reach.

Room Tip: Rooms around the lawn area were quiet and away from any road noise.

Tina works hard to make Nacalino a good place to stay and she succeeds. The agriturismo is well run, and scores high on both breakfast and dinner. The antipasti are the best. Use it as an outpost to visit Noto, the most extraordinary of the hilltop towns of southeast Sicily. The one minor drawback: it is near a state road with some traffic noise

We had a lovely stay for three nights in this excellent agriturismo. Conveniently placed for visiting, Modica, Ragusa and the coast, Tina and Filippo were very welcoming hosts. We ate in all three nights and had the best food of our two week stay in Sicily not just the best food of the agriturismos we stayed in. Wonderful home made wine, olive oil and ricotta among other treats. I would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

We stayed for 3 nights in June. The GPS co-ordinates were a Godsend - we kept saying that the GPS knew where we were - we didn't. Once Tina pointed out to us on the map where we were, it was easy to find our way around.

This property is very pretty, with stone buildings in beautiful condition. We stayed in a very large room with a huge balcony - which was very peaceful. We elected to come back for dinner each night, a good decision - the meals were great, and it avoided driving in the dark. There was lots to eat, and the food was delicious - wines and liqueurs included. We thought the price for dinner (30 E each, with everything) was very good value, although my husband actually said he'd pay that for a hot dog, to avoid having to drive in the dark.

One of the reviews commented on the road noise. The property seems to be a triangle with an A road down below on one side, and a farm (with chickens) on the other. We did not face the road, and heard absolutely no road noise. I'd read this review before we arrived and asked other guests staying on the road side about the noise - no one thought it was a problem. Occasionally we could hear or smell the chickens, and we heard farm dogs, but hey, this is an agriturismo in the country - what do you expect?

The location is great for Modica, Ragusa, and Noto. Tina gave us a map of Modica, told us where to park and where to buy chocolate, and it made the trip a lot easier. I'd also recommend a drive along the coast - there are pretty resort towns for several miles and you can stick your toe in the ocean or swim if your wish. The sandy beaches seemed very casual and family-friendly - not like those ones where you have to pay for a chair or get yelled at for putting your towel on the sand. We drove one day to Piazza Amerina - a long day, and the GPS took us on a beautiful, but long and twisty-turny route, but certainly doable from this location, and well worth the trip. We took a funny route from Noto to Nacalino, courtesy of the GPS - we had no idea where we were going, but it was through beautiful rolling countryside with sheep being herded on the roads - just lovely.

I was sick during my holiday, and Tina referred me to a local pharmacist on the road into Modica who was happy to sell me antibiotics. A very good suggestion, which saved the trip.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony - good location and lots of room.

stands out from other agritourismos with a beautifully conversion of an old rural factory to a wonderful hotel with high-standard rooms. hosts are lovely as stated above and the views inspiring. Modica is 20 minutes away by car. a bit pricy but otherwise very nice!

Good location to visit Ragusa, Modica and Noto. Room was spacious and clean with balcony overlooking the fields. Hosts were friendly. But the best thing about staying here was the food. We had dinner on the first night of our 2 week stay in Sicily and it was one of the best we had. The breakfast was also delicious. Freshly squeezed orange juice, home made cake and jams, meats and cheeses and Italian coffee.

Filippo is a wonderful person but globally the place is overpriced: 95€ for 2 for a tiny and dark bedroom with barely no furniture and no decoration on the walls is far too expensive. the breakfast is great but that does not make up for the nearby road that is very noisy at night. Too bad to be in the middle of nowhere and feel like in Paris close to the 'périphérique'. In addition some of the guests fancied laughing and talking very loudly till 3 pm (Saturday night) and I found it very difficult to sleep. No way to escape anything as all the rooms face the same courtyard. I have found during my trip to Sicily far better-value accommodation as it is a lovely island inhabited by wonderful people.

Dear Guest,
We are very sorry that you have found this place in the middle of nowhere in the country, but being an Agriturismo, it must be like this.
Regarding the decorations on the walls we have furnished the rooms in a simple way without creating a gallery of art.
We remember very well the matter of the noise that was heard but it was the cry of a small child, because the day after, the mother apologized for the inconvenience.
Lastly, in regard to the rate of the room, this is the price for those who stay only one night.
We also remember that you had brought the key to the door with you like a souvenir.
Once again, we are sorry that you did not completely enjoy your stay here at Nacalino.
