My husband and I spent a week here in June. We were not disappointed. I admit that it's very difficult to find, as a viaduct between Comiso airport and destination had almost caved in and there were no diversion signs. The 45 min. journey took over 3 hours, but Philippo came to the rescue after we phoned him, and he came to Scicli so that we could follow him back.
Both he and Tina did their utmost to ensure that we had a lovely week with them.
The farm has been extensively and tastefully restored, with a beautiful swimming pool, elegant underfloor lighting in the evenings, and delicious meals taken at individual tables in the lovely dining room or outside under the archways at one long table with the other guests, weather permitting. The home-cooking and included wine was of a high standard.
I don't know why other reviewers have complained. Admittedly, the rooms and bathrooms are a little dated and the bedroom floor was never cleaned, but these were small details. All the public rooms and grounds were kept to a very high standard and the electric gates, for added security, made only the slightest sound.
We would be happy to return. If you like the Inspector Montalbano series on BBC4, then this is the place for you, with conducted tours of the Scicli "police station", the ruined "furnace" and the Catacombs of Ispica, all within a short drive. A little further afield is Punta Secca, with Montalbano's beachfront property and fabulous meals at Enzo da Mare, where he is often seen eating, Donnalucata and other settings of the series.
There are only 2 flights a week from UK to Comiso. There was no plane other than ours in the airport either when we arrived or departed, so a pushover to reach from UK. (apart from the lack of road signs and road numbers) The beaches are stunning and easy to reach.
