“More than just a conical roof”
Reviewed September 27, 2012

While my boyfriend and I were planning a trip through this area of Puglia, we were torn between staying here at Trulli Valle d'Itria and a really nice masseria outside of Ostuni. We prefer not to stay in traditional hotels, so staying on a masseria or in a trullo was key to this leg of our trip. Personally, I didn't get the appeal of staying in a building with conical roof (whoop-dee doo, right?) so I initially was more interested in the idea of staying on a vast olive oil plantation, especially if it meant I might be able to befriend a goat.

But after reading through all of the nice things everyone has written about Pino and Angela in the reviews, we looked at each other with sparkly puppy dog eyes and knew that we had found where we wanted to stay. Just a winding 4km drive outside of Martina Franca, it was the perfect jumping off point between a few of the towns we wanted to visit in the area (Locorotondo, Cisternino, and eventually Ostuni and Ceglie Messapica).

We wanted to do some biking through the dirt trails and fields connecting us to Locorotondo and Cisternino, so Pino set us up with a couple of his bikes and gave us a general idea of how to get from place to place. The trails are totally manageable, and the distance to and from these two cities is perfect--a nice healthy couple of hours throughout the entire day there and back... a great way to burn off all the delicious food we'd been eating in Puglia!! Just make sure to bring a pump and some flat fix so you don't get stranded in a field somewhere. Of course, if you have an international phone, Pino will come to the rescue if you have any issues.

The trullo was super cute and clean, and the entire estate was well-kept. We were bummed that we only were staying there for two nights; we didn't even get a chance to use the pool, since there was so much to do in the day in the surrounding towns! Had some wonderful meals at restaurants that Pino recommended (he was SPOT ON every time) for lunch and dinner, and otherwise had a good time chatting with him and Angela before breakfast in the mornings or after returning from our day activities.

Will stay here again in the future, without even considering other options. It was that perfect.

The warm familiar hospitality from Pino & Angela makes from Trulli Valle d'itria an excellent holiday stay.
The welcome package-the fruit-the services-the provided info of neighbourhood and help with finding a local restaurant proves this hospitality.
THe swimming pool - the garden shade terrace-the individual terrace-the caffeterria -and the safe entrance for car parking are all assets which gives the holiday guests the excellent service for this B&B-agriturismo

We stayed at the trulli della valle d'itria for 2 nights and it was fantastic. The place is maintained to very high levels, and the owner has an eye for beauty and detail. The trullo where we stayed has the traditional charecteristics, and it felt like stepping back into old times. The owner, Pino, is very friendly and kind. He will give you recommendations where to go and the good restaurants in the area. The breakfast was good, with the fruit picked from the trees in the area and a delicious torta made by his wife.

Martina Franca is beautiful and it is worth a visit. The location of the trullo is also in a good location if you wish to visit the other cities in the area, like Ostuni and Polignano sul Mare, which are beautiful.

Worth spending some days in this paradise,if you just want peace, tranquillity and authentic local culture.

He had a very pleasant, quiet stay here, and it was a pity the weather was cool and windy so we couldn't fully appreciate the lovely grounds and location.
Pino was very friendly and helpful, and an excellent host for us, the only guests at the time !
We probably spent more time in doors than you'd expect in mid-April, so we did suffer a bit from the not terribly efficient heating, and a bed that wasn't particularly comfortable. But that would normally not have been an issue.
We'd go back and stay there again, but plan the weather better next time!

My wife and I spent 4 lovely relaxed nights staying in the "Lamia" house in early October. We very much enjoyed the quiet country-side location, yet only 15-20 minutes drive into Martina Franca; the atmosphere is very relaxed, the garden and grounds are well-maintained. Most of all we enjoyed our great hosts, Pino and Angela who made us feel very welcome and that nothing was ever a problem (including Angela teaching my wife how to make orecchiette pasta!). The site is handily located to visit all of the main towns in the valley, also the coast which is about 40 minutes by car away. It was getting towards the end of the season yet the place was still full most nights - so you need to book early!!The 3 different accommodations are well enough away from each other to afford guests their own privacy. The pool is beautifully set out, clean with deck chairs and loungers. The accommodation is self-contained, and comes with a small table and chairs outside each unit. The inside was well-appointed, "compact" yet comfortable enough for 2 people, with a small kitchen. Bring your mosquito repellent though, they eat you alive! Pino was extremely helpful in recommending local restaurants to eat at and we very much enjoyed his helpful, friendly and caring manner. If we come back we will definitely stay here!

Room Tip: The Lamia room suited our needs but you need to be aware that it is located beside the pool; if the...
