“Lovely B&B in the heart of Gallipoli”
Reviewed July 28, 2011

First of all; this is a B&B - not a hotel, and it never claims to be a hotel either. So if you need all the service a hotel can provide - don't bother stay here. For the rest of us, this is a lovely place to spend some days!

We stayed at Senape for three nights in July, and liked it very much. All the 5 rooms are on the 2nd floor and our room was big and clean. Old style furnishing. Small bathroom, with a rather old shower cabin. Nice and clean sheets and towels. Small and emty frigde to cool your white wine.

The roof are on different levels, and its easy to find a relaxing spot for reading a book or enjoy a glass of wine with your friend. On the top its a nice place to watch the sun sets.

The breakfast is served on the roof aswell. Fresh and still warm pasteries are served. Not much other choices.

Please note that the check-in time are between kl 1600 - 2000, unless you have made other arrangement with the owner.

Gallipoli is closed for cars, and only cars with permission are allowed in. There is a big free parking area on the habour, and its 5-10 minutes walking from the parking to Senape de Pace. There are signs, but can be tricky to find the right door.

Most of the building are closed for the guests, the family live on the ground and first floor. As a normal guest, you will just see the entrance area on the ground floor, the elevator, 2nd floor roof, your room and breakfast area.

The old part of Gallipoli is a place you feel you are close to living among italians, its also close to the public beach.

Very nice roof of this B+B where the breakfast was served. Very kind personal, unfortunately not all of them speak english. Location excellent - in the middle of the historic center, but just 3 minutes walk to the public beach (which was very clean, especially the water was very clean, but the beach was without the possibility to rent the sunbeds or umbrella). The other hauses in this old part of city Gallipoli were inhabited by the normal italians what makes a very nice authentic atmosphere there (where else you can experience to see italian men sitting on the street and wathing TV - the football match... and the old grandmothers sitting on the streets and speaking with the others) Few negative comments: on the www.booking.com there were displayed pictures of the areas which belongs to the privat area of the owners, so you do not have the possibility to enter in (we did not asked but it was also not offered to us). Our room was very clean and bathroom was very nice furnished.Rooms are of course with airconditioning (which you can set on temperature whatyou want), but the rooms had just one small window, so it makes the whole room bit dark. The breakfast was just sweet (at least 3 types of cakes, fresh from oven...), what we noticed on the end of stay, that you might get also toast-bread, but you have to ask for it (we did not knew this), but everything you can put on that bread is just butter (in order to have salty breakfast), no cheese, no ham.... . But these "small negative points" were really not that bad, we enjoyed to stay there.

Stayed for 4 nights B&B in this elegant and well appointed Palazzo.
One word of warning though before the review - This B&B and every restaurant we went to on the old town part of Gallipoli did not accept credit cards. This made it difficult to pay for larger bills (B&B was 250 euros+) and we had to keep returning to ETM for max cash withdrawals of 250 euros a time.
We arrived at the old town and parked for free in the port area. It is not very easy to drive onto or within the old town and parking is very limited.
Nice welcome and although our Italian is basic we all understood each other.
5x lovely rooms, very elegant with air conditioning (essential) and good quality en-suite. Room kept very clean. Continental breakfast of croissant, hot bread (toast), cereals, yoghurt and home baked muffins with good coffee supplied on a rooftop terrace with views of the sea. Very romantic setting and reminded us of Merchant Ivory "Room with a View".
Plenty of restaurants in the Old Town - mostly traditional local food (tipico) and plenty of freshly caught sea food prepared individually. Yum!
Old town very quiet which we liked and no noisy clubs or bars but opportunities to have a drink in small town streets or squares and people watch.
Charming place and good beaches nearby - try Lido di San.Giovanni where you can hire sun umbrellas and loungers etc.
