Now, THIS was something special. Travel writer Francine Segan said that her meal at Cantina del Picchio was perhaps the best she has had in Italy - and was she right-on! Our meal was a veritable feast, a parade of delectable treats - we counted eleven different courses - of antipasti, pastas and meat dishes. Somehow, Chef Pasqualini Emilio managed to also produce the same number of vegetarian dishes for my son (the chef is a wonder!) We enjoyed local wine and local produce. We did not order off a menu, but were placed in the talented hands of the chef who prepared the fresh offerings of the day (of course any special requests were duly accommodated). I would definitely advise that del Picchio is worth a trip!

We travel to Italy nearly every year for 8 years. This was one of the best meals ever. Chef Pasqualini Emilio prepared many traditional foods , all from local sources. Including local prosciutto (different from Parma) fried stuffed olives a wonderful ricotta (custard?) with peas and fava beans and dried shredded (thread like) spicy peppers, incredible! Handmade pasta with mushrooms and asparagus. Wines included Passerina Frizzante, Passerina Still, Passerina Rosso, all from Ciu Ciu winery, very tasty. Great service, very good wines, great atomsphere.

We had pasta with mushrooms, then steak with mushrooms and cooked greens as the vegetable. Excellant! My husband doesn't like spinach, we think that is what the greens were, and he loved it! The pasta was the most tasty pasta we have had on this trip. We have been to Italy 4 times and this is one of the best meals we've had. We order one plate and share, a full serving is more then we can eat and walk away comfortably. The house wine was wonderful, smooth and yet full of flavor. We took a couple of bottles home with us at only 4.90 euros @ it was a bargain. We would highly recommend this restaurant in Offida Italy
