A privelige to enjoy Thom Yorke & Jonny Greenwood perform in such a beautiful venue which is traditionally home to the Annual Opera Festival.
Oriniginally built as a sports venue in early 1800's this housed a popular game similar to squash before football became teh most popular sport and teh venue was converted to a home for Opera.
A small crescent of seating backed by a bacony and finally two levels of boxes with six free standing chairs in each, there is not a bad seat in the hosue (although the far wings would feel a little envious of ther est of the crowd).
Free tour for 3Euro available before any shows recommended.

Great open air theater, the supertitles in Italian and English were projected on the wall. The staging was minimalustic but efficient, not very happy with the production concept and ballet. Overall valuable experience

This was one to cross off our bucket list, having missed the opera season by a few weeks on previous visits to the region. Great atmosphere and very clever set designs. Because Sferisterio run different operas on consecutive nights, the stage sets need to be simple and are mainly computer generated. Sub titles in Italian and English were also displayed, which was very helpful. BRING A CUSHION: Even the relatively comfy plastic seats are a bit posterior numbing after a couple of hours. Well worth seeing for the whole experience, whether you are an opera fan or not.

We got tickets to see Aida at the Sferisterio and it was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is one of a kind. We sat on one of the balcony boxes (palco 28, section oro) right near the middle and has excellent views. It was a very hot day and the boxes do not allow for any air circulation (they close the door behind you) so it was uncomfortably hot. There are three normal chairs (1,2,3) and three high chairs (4,5,6) so that everybody can see. The lyrics were projected on the walls in Italian and English, which was very welcome. The actors gave an excellent performance and we had a great night. The set was rather modern and simple but there were many extras and the soprano memorable. We dressed up a little as we knew the Italians do (no suit necessary) and packed water and some snacks as the break was only 20 mins. Kids 14 and under pay €1 for a full ticket so we got a great deal.
