An additional benefit by staying at Federico & Mom' s BnB..( where he was raised,)was Not just the guest dinner discount, but while @ Al Vicolo dei Pescatore, to preview both the menu, & blackboard prior. Then enjoyed the beautiful rich with history & architecture near the lake. Do a complete walkabout, including the Piazza, Church, & waterfront promenade.
Using the restaurant as the "bar" as which to judge all others, in the encroaching " off season" , La Nepitella was the Obvious choice. Choice lakeside dining area,feeling adventurous,for last Night near Rome, Less So, Otherscan dine behind the Inn. Everyone else took advantage of plastics & Natural protection, where a Dozen Diners were Cave toasty just outside the Chef's Cucina , in front of a second Building,small Piazza area. We had the Lake to ourselves, Blankets avail., but not necessary, Zero breeze on an Autumn eve @ Sunset.
Antipasti / Starters included wonderful mix of bruschetta including Olive tapenade.Secondi - full pot of Peppered Mussels in a light bottom coarse salt, garlic,& sliced lemons. Although I wanted a fritti of NO sardine, Calamari & crustaceans, had to try a Prima in a Demi of fresh grilled lake Pike. Great to have both Fresh. Salt & Sea options, from the Chef. As the last dinner in Rome, My wife's simple request was Fresh pasta of Ravioli in Red sauce, with some crusty bread, & local olive Oil.
Had finished some Nobile vine Red from Montepulciano, working through Fish with local White, refreshing, by the glass. Mama had control of her desserts, Federico served, including a Chocolate decadent, gluten free almond flour , cake. The berried bread based dessert was delicious. A change - up from homemade limoncello sampled was potent mandarin.. Momma concocted.
Food was 5*. Service & hospitality 5* ! Perfect fin to Italia.
