Stayed a week in a larger room facing the street - every morning stepping our overlooking the black-and-white painted church framing the southside of the old monastery courtyard. Recommend to choose one of the two rooms overlooking the pedestrian square instead. Wonderful, unassuming, historical guesthouse, if a bit pricey. Run by the father-daughter team that also operates the Edera Hotel further up the hill, with its unheated pool and (presumably) heated sauna accessible to Abbadia guests. This is a magnificent base point for the Quinqueterre madness, or the Portofino peninsula.

Room Tip: Try one of the two rooms facing the pedestrian square next to the church entrance. The streetside (n...

Extremely helpful staff/owners. Relatively easy to find with good parking possibilities. Great location in Moneglia at five minutes distance to railway station (perfect for taking the train to Cinque Terre). As mentioned the owners go the extra mile in every way possible to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Make sure to ask them for good restaurants! The Abbadia is wonderful and very quiet. The rooms are spotlessly clean, quite new and attentively decorated. The breakfast is absolutely fantastic. Enormous, very elaborate with every kind of bread, cereal, cheese, juice, cake, ham, etc. etc. etc. you can think of. Highly recommended!!

Beautiful abbey, with peaceful courtyard.
Extremely clean.
Delicious breakfasts (Susanna is amazing!).
Friendly, helpful staff.
Lovely room (washroom was a bit cramped, given the room size - stayed in Honeymoon Suite).
Excellent location (took only a few minutes to walk to the train station).
The town of Moneglia is a proper town, in and of itself, with good amenities (e.g., stores, restaurants, markets, etc.). It is perfectly located to visit Cinque Terre and surrounding area.

Three friends and I recently spent four relaxing days at Abbadia San Giorgio and loved it. It had been recommended to us by our travel agent and it exceeded our expectations. The serenity, peace and tranquillity was something we really appreciated. The cloister and attached church are beautiful and remind visitors of what this building once was. Susanna and her staff were very friendly and helpful. My luggage had been lost in Marseilles and Susanna kindly made phone calls which resulted in the luggage actually arriving before we left to return home. The hotel is small and every room in the building was different in size as well as decor. They are all beautifully decorated and appointed. For those who, like us, are not attracted to large hotels with masses of tourists this is a perfect place to stay. The breakfast was great and served with such cheerful friendliness. We were spared the horrors of the Cinque Terra tourist frenzy in quiet Moneglia but a three or four minute walk to the station gave us south access to the five villages or north to Portofino etc. Our visits to these areas were really enjoyable, except for the crowds. We had delicious meals at local restaurants including the one in the hotel close to Abbadia whose swimming pool we could use. We would thoroughy recommend Abbadia San Giorgia to anyone travelling in this area.

Room Tip: Some rooms are larger than others..

Been there in early / mid September and enjoyed the Location Moeglia as well as the Abbadia so much: Service and staff are very, very friendly and helpful. The environment of the monastery is second to none with ist quiet courtyard and the beautiful church next to it. The railway station with access to Cinque Terre in merely 3 minute walking distance reachable; beach as well in 3-4 minutes. -- Can only highly recommend it and will come again!

This hotel was absolutely beautiful and charming. Fantastic rooms, beautiful interior, very relaxing atmosphere. Great position if you do not want to stay directly at one of the cinque terre, train station very closeby. Beautiful little town to explore. Great restaurants to satisfy your hunger!. Very helpful and lovely staff, most happy to greet everyone, and are very hospitable to everyone. Had a lovely time.

Travelling from Australia to Abbadia San Giorgio on the recommendation of a friend, this historic location certainly did not disappoint. There was a warm welcome and excellent service from all the staff who were very friendly, helpful, caring, attentive, hard working and unobtrusive. They maintained a high standard of service throughout my week long stay. The rooms were cleaned with fresh towels and bed linen on a daily basis. Beautiful toiletries made from local olive oil products were also renewed daily and there were tea making facilities, a well stocked mini bar and safe in the room as required. There were also two large beach/pool towels available.
Abbadia is a sanctuary of peace, tranquillity and comfort, providing cool shade and gentle breezes on the terrace overlooking the cloister in the heat of the day, and airconditioning in the rooms as needed at night. The neighbouring church bell chimes hourly between 8am and 10pm, and a sung morning service can be heard quietly in the background over breakfast. Suzannah ensured breakfasts were superb with a variety of fresh produce to suit all tastes, including hot options. A perfect way to start the day before exploring the cinque terre, Portofino, local markets, boat trips or just relaxing. Angelo was very helpful with providing details of local transport, restaurants, trips, etc. and everything was very easy to get to without needing a car. The local food and wines were fantastic - just a shame I had no room in my case! I will definitely return and have recommended it highly to all my friends. Dont hesitate - book now for a real treat.
