This is another of our favorite hotels. We did a driving trip from Venice to Reggio Emilia to Moneglia to Milano. After one sees the bigger cities of Italy but still wants to experience Italy, this was a great route.

Little Moneglia was a perfect choice. The drive was spectacular and this hotel is picture perfect, welcoming and very historic. It's a very short walk to restaurants and shopping. Did fantastic dress and shoe shopping. We also took the train/bus to Porto Fino, then a boat launch back. On a second day we drove Aurelia #1 (an old Roman highway !?!) and had a lovely circular trip around Cinque Terra.

The Abbadia is so special that we almost needed to whisper to each other, and breakfasts were particularly memorable for the food (a nice combination between typical tourist and totally local fare) and the fellow guests were also looking for adventure and culture. Is it just us, or is it tiring to see US/UK tourists missing the point of being in Italy?

Highly recommend the Abbadia and Moneglia.

We stayed in Moneglia on the advice of Julie our travel agent who said it would be a better place to stay for us when visiting the Cinque Terre
Why did I ever doubt Julie - she was right - again!
What a lovely hotel - what a wonderful setting - what a lovely little town in which to stay!
And - Oh Suzanna - she is something really special! Does a fantastic breakfast, does your washing, gets you sorted out if you're muddled up! Tells you where to go on a rainy day! What a gem she is!
Would I go back? Ooooh Yes - please!

My wife and I stayed at the Abbadia San Giorgio from 25 March to 5 April of this year. We found it simply wonderful. Our room was very nice and quiet, beautifully decorated and he bathroom very large.

The service was great. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. Our breakfast time with Suzana in the dining area was like having breakfast with the family. My wife would chat with her about places and things to do while she made eggs to order and made sure we had everything we needed. My wife needed some tailor-work done while we were there, and Suzana took the clothes for her to the tailor--something e really appreciated. I can say enough how much the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff made the stay something we will not forget.

The Abbadia is located very close to the train station (about 2 minutes walk) and easy walking distance from the main restaurant area in Moneglia.

Parking is located a few minutes walk from where you stay, in a secured area.

Overall a beautiful, restful place to stay--recommended.

We spent 4 blissful days at Abbadia San Giorgio and Moneglia. Our suite was beautifully fitted out and furnished and spotlessly clean, with everything in keeping with the history and ambience of the site. The staff were warm, welcoming and helpful at all times. Breakfast was a magnificent affair - with a great cooked breakfast and lots of other goodies to choose from. Enough to keep you going all day! Moneglia provides very easy access to the Cinque Terre and other fabulous destinations by train but without being overwhelmed by tourists. We loved Abbadia SG and Moneglia and plan to travel there again very soon. Margaret & Leon, Australia

We were originally booked at the Abbadia's sister property--Hotel Villa Edera--and were informed a few weeks before our arrival that we were being upgraded to the Benefica Mulier Honeymoon Suite at the Abbadia San Giorgio. It was a wonderful surprise. The room was quite large and very beautifully decorated with period furnishings combined with modern amenities. Breakfast in the peaceful restored cloister was lovely and we still had access to the pool at the Villa Edera. The staff were also very helpful and attentive.

Moneglia is a great place to stay in the Riviera di Levante -- away from the touristy Cinque Terre but with easy access by train if you do wish to visit other towns in the area.

My husband and I stayed stayed in the Librarius Suite for 4 nights in September. I loved the elegant, classic and timeless decor of our room. I could happily move in and never leave.

Service was very friendly and helpful, whether it was making us the best cappuccino's of our trip for breakfast, or driving with us to park around the corner when we arrived. We had our laundry done before continuing our trip and not only was it affordable, everything came back so beautifully ironed that I hated to wear it again!

Enjoying a bottle of wine on the covered balcony that overlooks the courtyard and the church was a welcome respite after visiting the hectic towns that make up the Cinque Terre. I am SO GLAD we chose to stay in beautiful, quiet Moneglia just a quick and convenient train ride from there.

We recently stayed at the honeymoon suite during a 2-week trip to Italy. The region is absolutely beautiful but the hotel was by far the best surprise. The room is spacious and beautifully decorated. The people who run are very friendly and Suzana makes a spectacular breakfast. The toiletry products are of excellent quality, wonderful smells. Moneglia is not crowed tourist town, on the contrary, so were able to enjoy tranquil evening strolls and walks in the beach. The hotel also recommended a great family restaurant, La Routa, I believe, which picked us up at the hotel. Highly recommend!!

Room Tip: Honeymoon suite is worth the extra cost.
