We were a bit worried that this hotel would not live up to the reviews but these fears were soon dispeled by the warm welcome and the first meal at the poolside. This is the best all inclusive hotel we have stayed at. The staff are attentive, friendly and work really hard at making sure that everything is as perfect as possible and making you feel special, Angelo, the maitre di, is a real star.
The hotel is isolated but the frequent shuttle buses give plenty of opportunity to visit Sorrento. The hotel is very peaceful with lots of places to relax. The evening entertainment consists of singers who are very good and try to vary the music themes each night.
The food is excellent with plenty of choice and the evening waiter service made you feel that you were eating out every evening. The big plus for us was that they were able to cater for a gluten free diet with gluten free rolls, pizza's and pasta's cooked to order and even biscuits for breakfast.
Overall a great place on a beautiful coastline with plenty of places to visit.

My husband and I visited this hotel through Thomsons 19-26th October. We arrived quite late and were expecting a cold plate or something similar to eat....to our surprise on entering the hotel we checked in, left our bags with the porter and passport with reception and was told to go for dinner and collect our key after.......on our way into the restaurant we were given a welcome drink and welcomed by Angelo the maitre d', shown to a table and given a menu to order from. The main meal was waiter served (you could order as many or as few dishes as you liked) and in addition there was also a very large buffet that you could also help yourself too.

On reaching our standard room on the 3rd floor, we were more than pleased with the side sea view room, the bed was massive and very comfortable as it had a mattress topper, the wardrobe was a lovely mirrored one and the electronic safe was free, the bathroom was good too. The views were great being so high up and there was a very large patio area with seating. The rooms have metal retractable blinds which were excellent as it kept the sun out if you wanted a lie in.

The following day we went to the Thomson welcome meeting and met Alessandro and Clementine the Thomson reps, which I suggest going to, and we also went on the tour of the hotel and grounds with Clementine the ents rep. There was also a free tour around Sorrento which was very worth the visit with lots of freebie alcohol tastes and info (things like ladies having to have their shoulders and knees covered if wanting to enter any of the churches which I wouldnt of known).

Breakfast was again in the main dinning room and consisted of the normal english breakfast, fruit and yogurt, cereal, pastries and cakes, meats and cheese with the addition of smoked salmon. There was also a pancake (yummy) and omlette station....beware of the coffee though....i like strong coffee but it was like tar! So switched to tea and coffee/cappucinos from the machine.

Lunch was by the pool (in the main dinning room if bad weather) which consisted of a hot and cold buffet, pizza (which is amazing by the way) and BBQ'd meat/fish with icecream and lots of lovely desserts, certainly something to suit everyone....they will go out of their way for guests-one lady was asked if she wanted pizza and she replied that she couldnt have cheese so couldnt have one.....they then went and made a cheese free one so she could!

The pool always had free sun loungers and had some lovely views - the pool was very cold though so we never went in - but was always very crystal clear.

The grounds between the pool and hotel are where the 3 spa baths are (defo try them) and is shaded by trees and dotted with lovely seating/loungers.

There is another building on the grounds which houses the Spa and I would assume the superior rooms, on the roof of this building is the sunset bar which is lovely for a relaxed drink before dinner looking at again some more lovely views.

Entertainment by the Thomson reps was good with a local walk and visit to a local olive oil company. Evening entertainment was by Dn A .... they both sing and he also plays the clarinet and sax and do sound a bit samey but then again this is a couples holiday meant for romance and relaxing so wouldnt expect the normal family hotel enertainment, one night there was some local dancers and another some local musicians.

Drinks included local and international drinks and many cocktails to try! the bar staff are lovely and keep you with a drink in hand at all times!

The shuttle bus into Sorrento had plenty of times on offer and is definately worth using as it is a lovely place for churches and shopping and eating out.

I would definately like to go to this hotel again and appreciate that it may not be quite the same as the Thomson reps will change and the entertainment duo I would imagine would move on, but I think the essense of the hotel would still be the same.......a beautiful relaxing week where you are treated well and overfed and over watered!

What can I say that hasn't been said, the welcome and service was second to none. The views were impressive and the ease of the bus too and from sorrento made this hotel really good. I was a bit disappointed that the beach was closed and we had not been informed at booking but the Weather turned after a few days anyway so it did not matter.
A few points to remember on booking are if you want a balcony or terrace to request it as we did not get one, I'm sure if we had asked to be moved we would have been without fuss but we weren't that bothered, also we didn't have a bath so again I would request it.
I have never been to an AI where you are served at dinner as well as a buffet it was great and had that extra special feel to it, the food was very good with plenty of variety.
The pool looked great with loads of comfy sun beds but the water was so cold I only went in the once.
Would I return, yes as we didn't get to see all that we wanted and the hotel was a good quality AI with some great staff and we have made some new friends, hi Neil and Julie .

All in all an amazing honeymoon with my beautiful new wife...

D n A music could have been more varied and played for longer and the shuttle bus more frequent and later back from Sorrento.

Loved the sunset bar. The staff were vert friendly and the service as great. A la carte nit really worth it unless you get a freebie for the room upgrade.

Gardens are lovely and pool very clean and modern. We stayed in a superior room in the main hotel, very modern and clean.

After such a wonderful experience last year we decided to return again this October but now wish we hadn't bothered. See my previous review. We were welcomed warmly once again by staff who recognised us from last year. We had paid for a superior room this time after a nice standard room last year and were really looking forward to it. First impressions of room ok, but we were tired having been up since 2am. The room was a lot larger than last years room, but a bit disappointed that it was at the back with only work men's sheds and trees to look at, the patio was large but not private and the patio furniture was just a small wicker table and two chairs. The patio was covered in rubbish and looked like it had not been swept for a long time. Anyway we let that go. The room was on the dark side because of the trees. Bedroom furniture was white and modern but the white sofa was very stained with sun oil. The espresso machine was old and full of stagnant water, also there was no instructions so we couldn't use it anyway. Wardrobes had plenty of space but only a few coat hangers and most of them were broken. Nice large bed, clean white linen, but the pillows were very flat and every one was stained due to not having pillow protectors on, in fact they were disgusting, we asked for two more clean ones but they were the same, I had to sleep with one of my nighties covering them. Bathroom the toilet seat was hanging off and so was the toilet roll holder, the towels were in the majority threadbare and smelt funny. The fridge was dirty and someone had kicked a hole in the door of it, the safe door looked like it had been forced but it worked. As did the door to the room which was so bad. My husband had to open it for me. On the
second morning we were awoken by repetitive loud banging which went on for some time, followed by the domestics getting their trolleys out. The next morning I woke up to find ants crawling in our bed and on us, in the bedside cabinet and on our clothes. Out side the patio and walls were covered in them. We reported this at 7 am, at 1 pm nothing had been done so reported this once again. We returned to our room about 4pm and the bed had been pulled out and floor sprayed with ant killer, this then revealed a large ball of fluff and a large number of hairs, the floor had not been swept for some time. Outside there was a large number of dead flying ants outside the door. Again we spoke to reception at which a very rude man sent someone to look at the room. We sat and waited but no one came to speak to us about this. By five o'clock and as the rep was not available I contacted Thomson help line, the got back to me saying the hotel had told them it had bed sorted. We then tried to speak to reception but the very rude manager would not let me speak and shouted at me that all I wanted was to change my room and almost threw a room key at us, we were escorted to view another room on the second floor and we agreed to move. Back at our original room we found the door wide open and four women and a man in there, my husbands bedside draw was open and the were attempting to clear the dead ants up. We informed the we were changing rooms and one of the domestics came towards me and waved the ant spray in my face and said I was a (something in Italian I did not understand) she said this a number of times and even told her manager that she had called me something. We were told to get out of the room immediately as the had to put someone else in there, we were given 15 minutes to pack our stuff and get it up to our new room. The new room was ok but minus coffee maker and settee and our room was left everyday to be serviced last at about 4pm so we couldn't have a nap if we wanted. Also we found someone had been smoking in our room and the air fan had been adjusted to make the room warmer even though the weather was hot.

Other wise the rest of the staff were great as before, food good and we did a trip to Amalfi which was gorgeous. Needless to say we will not return again and feel that we were polite at all times but because we dared to complain to Thomson we were bullied and intimidated for the rest of the holiday by certain staff, we even tried to explain and thank them but received no apology or communication from the reception management.

Good points: wonderful food. Great staff in bars and restaurants.
Bad points: ignorant staff on front desk. Domestic bullies. Superior rooms not worth the money. Also some had been given superior rooms with sea view when they had only paid for standard without.

Needless to say we will not return.

Room Tip: Check your room thoroughly before accepting it.

We found thw Nastro Azzurro wonderful, there was a great welcome when we arrived at 10pm. Friendly staff, a grass of bubbly and a large plate of food and bottle of red and white on th table for us. This was our honeymoon so we also found a bottle of champagne in our room with a note of congratulations. We payed extra to stay in the Occhio Marino, the room was lovely, a good size, very comfortable bed, TV, coffee machine and bottled water in the fridge every day. Also a nice large bathroom and a view of the sea. The rooms were very clean and were cleaned everyday and new towels brought every day. Breakfast was served in the dining room and there was great selection of foods, including continental and engish breakfast options also lots of fruit. The freshley squeshed orange juice was a great start to the day. aiter were friendly and could not do enough to help. Lunch was served in the pool bar, plenty of place to sit in the shade and wonderful food, choice of salad pasta, pizza or bbq foods. Evening food was also wonderful, all were greeted by Agelo on the door and seated then a menu presented and drinks orders brought to you, a great selection of food and all tasted good. One night was a grand buffet this was also wonderful. As we were staying in the Occhio Marino we were also given free night in the al a carte restaurant, this was a lovely night, very good service and food was cooked fresh in front of you.
We went with thompsons and enjoyed the trip to vesuvio and Hercalaneum and very much reccommend the almafi drive. Shuttle bus was very convenient,
