We spent half term at this lovely hotel and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. What a fantastic things adults only hotels are!!! They make the whole atmosphere different. being a fan of Thomson Gold hotels I wondered what Couples would be like. I did miss the daily quizzes and the games as they are such a good way of getting to know people but I enjoyed Naiomi's aerobics, the Italian lessons and the winw and cheese tasting.
Our room was 252 in the main hotel and it was completely lovely - brand new with lovely views, we could have done with a shelf in the shower and a bin in the bedrooms, English TV would be nice too!!
Alessandro was fantastic - make the most of him Thomson! I don't think I have ever had such a charming, knowledgeable, efficient and hard working rep!!
We did the Amalfi drive trip and, thanks to Sian, had a wonderful day. I know it is cheaper to do it on your own on the local busses but the information she gave us was fscinating and made the day so much more enjoyable.
However, it was easy to do Pompeii on your own and much much cheaper.
The food was good although slightly repetitive, and slightly lacking in flavour, - I agree about the packed lunches! We learnt our lesson after the first one and customised it before leaving the hotel - if you put all the fillings into 1 roll it made it more manageable and much lighter to carry!!!
A lovely hotel and the management clearly want to please.

It would take forever to list the good points of this hotel, and it has all been said before, so I will stick to the bad points, which in all honesty are very few.
We stayed in room 476 in the Occhio Marino building overlooking the fountain area of the hotel. The room had a weird drain/mouldy smell that you got used to after a while. The room was a decent size but the balcony was microscopic, and only just had enough room for two chairs and a tiny table.
The packed lunches were terrible, containing three huge, rock hard, unbuttered bread buns, two with cheese and one with salami. The dry bread was virtually inedible, and could have been vastly improved by the addition of butter or mayo or some other kind of dressing. There was no variety and were the same every time. I would recommend making your own sandwiches at breakfast using the cold buffet. We did this and the staff did not raise an eyebrow.
We did four of the Thomson trips, and they were great, but on three of them the pick up and drop off were on the main road outside the hotel, rather at the entrance. This was a real pain because it meant you had to allow an extra 10 minutes to get there in time. The restaurant opened at 7am and the pick ups were at 7.30am, so that only left 20 minutes to grab some breakfast. Coming back was really hard on my 70 year old Mam (and me) because the last thing you want after a long day tramping around is to have to drag yourself up a very long steep bank to get back to your room. One day it was bucketing with rain and to add insult to injury we got drenched as well. We arrived on a big coach that dropped us off at the door, so I don't know why the tours couldn't do this as well, no explanation was ever given to us.
Other than that we had a fab time, and would go back tomorrow.

Difficult to add to those reviews already submitted having just returned from hotel.
Particular mention must go to the staff who were finishing for the end of the season (and being laid off) but were as friendly helpful and professional as if it were the beginning.

Our only query was with Thomsons pricing policy which rates the hotel at a premium rate during the school holidays even though this was couples only !!

We stayed at the Nastro Azzurro for one week on 14th October 2011, it was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. From the minute we arrived to the second we left we could not fault it. The staff are excellent and so are the Thomson reps. We stayed in the main building and was pleased we had as all these rooms have been refurbished and those in the Occhio Marino had not as yet. Our room was on the second floor with a balcony, very quiet and hardly any noise to be heard, we had slippers and bathrobe, towels and linen changed daily. The room was kept very clean. The bed was slightly on the hard side but I slept better than I do at home. There is a safe in the room and mini bar. Only criticism of the room was there was no make up or shaving mirror. The lighting in the bathroom slightly dim and no mirror in the bedroom. Maybe this is something management could look at. The meals were fantastic with a buffet breakfast, lunch and waiter service for dinner. There was a great deal of choice and food was hot and cooked properly. The dinning staff were professional but friendly. Bar staff were also very good. However, we did not find reception too helpful especially one lady who made me repeat what I had said about four or five times when all along it was clear she understood me. This lady needs retraining in courtesy and public relations. The entertainment was non intrusive, and the Italian night was very funny with everyone joining in. The gardens, pool and terrace are maintained to a high standard. Everywhere was very clean and the marble is fantastic. There really is no need to dress up, except men need to wear long trousers at dinner. Long gowns for the ladies are not required. We only did one trip firstly because we found the tours very expensive, and secondly because we spent the other days relaxing. We did Vesuvus 4 x 4 which was fabulous. The view from the top of the volcano is awesome and then we visited a vinyard where we sampled the local wine and had a simple meal. All in all a very good day and I can recommend this trip, but be sure to wear good walking shoes and warm clothing. We went on the shuttle bus into Sorrento which is a very pretty and clean town. The hotels location is in the hills above Sorrento and the views are fabulous, this was one of our most enjoyable relaxing holidays and would certainly recommend it to others.

Comfortable Friendly Hotel, with the benefits of being Adults Only. Offering peaceful surroundings and unobtrusive yet adequate standards of service in a well looked after property
Various activities are available as part of your holiday or as Extras, the Spa is chargeable but the Hot Tubs in the lovely garden are free and very nice too, The Pool and surrounds including the dining area for lunch are also worth a mention.
The Hotel provides a free Mini Bus down into Sorrento at pre-bookable times which we found very useful, booking at reception the day before is no hardship.
The Hotel provides a number if themed evenings in the Main Restaurant, and whilst other reviewers have suggested 'finery' for these evenings the majority whilst we were there, made do without going over the top, perhaps the exeption was the Gala Night.
Thomson provide a varied programme of excursions to cover the must sees, and also have the ebullient Allesandro ably supported by Naiomi to help if required, please take the time to go for the walk around Sorrento with them both, its well worth the effort.

My wife and I booked a last minute couple’s holiday with Thomsons Tui to the Nastro Azzurro Hotel in Sorrento. What a lovely hotel, what professional and attentive staff and what knowledgeable and friendly holiday reps. The location of the hotel is about 5 miles from the Sorrento centre, however the hotel provide a regular shuttle bus service to and from the town. Some times the shuttle can be busy so ensure you book your required times in advance. Having said this I do not think for one second that the hotel would leave you stranded. Italy being vespa and moped crazy can create some irritating noise but because the hotel is away from the town there is little or no traffic noise which leads to a most relaxing and quiet holiday location. The facilities at the hotel are good- pool, spa, beauticians for the ladies etc. The reps provide other enjoyable events including- yoga, Tai Chi, language lessons, wine and cheese tasting and some sport and games for those who feel energetic. The food and drink are of exceptionally high standards and this is complimented by a first class maitre de and his staff, bar staff, hotel receptionists and of course the holiday reps. This hotel is rated 4* but in my experiences is definitely a 4* plus. It provides a good base to explore the many wonderful sights and attractions in the area. I would recommend the Amalfi drive- "Stunning" and of course Pompeii. Overall this was an exceptional holiday which I would highly recommend.

Room Tip: All rooms have a balcony. The rooms at the rear of the hotel have less of a view. The rooms on the s...

We were lucky enough to have spent a week at this superb hotel. The staff are wonderful and really do go a very long way to making this hotel what it is. The food was excellent and there was always plenty of it and a good choice. Situated away from the bustle of Sorrento it is still within easy reach via the courtesy bus (although a few more available times would have been nice). We stayed in the Occhio Marino block in a superior room. This we paid a premium for and if I had one negative thing to say it would be about the condition of the room which I thought was rather tired and the bathroom shabby. But the fact that we had a four poster bed was a major redeeming point. I believe this hotel is due for more refurbishments over the winter in the foyer, etc., I only hope that these do not detract from the character as this would be a shame. If you have the chance to holiday at this hotel do so you will not be disappointed!
