Great place so much to see, the weather wasnt great when we went but it didnt matter as there is so much do. All drinks are branded, food great and intend to go back . Do all trips yourself its much cheaper and very easy to do. We have fallen in love with Italy !!

just back from 2 weeks at this fabulous hotel, was our second visit an will certainly not be our last.
value for money was outstanding as eating and drinking out in sorrento is on the expensive side.
i could fault nothing about our stay, the biggest plus of all being the staff, from cleaner to manager, always met with a smiling face and they could not do enough to please.
food is excellent always plenty of choices.
all in all had a fab time and met some new friends who made our stay even more enjoyable.

Room Tip: stayed in room 312 and was lovely, big room big bathroom mood lighting ect

Just back from holiday and already looking up brochure for next year. Everything about hotel is top class from food, rooms, and staff ....nothing is too much bother and everything is done with a smile. Thomson rep Allasandor is brilliant and loved the walk about Sorrento with him. As some of you might have read he loves jelly beans but now we've got him addicted to cadburys fruit and nut and irn bru so if you have spare room in your case a cake of chocolate and some irn bru wouldnt go wrong. Once again big thank you to all staff for making our holiday GREAT .

Just returned from a week at the Nastro Azzurro. Couples only which was brilliant. The hotel has been recently refurbished to a high standard. We had room 132 which was very large, massive balcony overlooking the mountains, beautifull. If you want coloured lights in your room you even have that option abit like a disco. The bathroom was lovely his and her showers, along with his and her sinks. Some guests however were not so fortunate as some of the rooms can be very small just enough to walk around the bed.
Allasndro the rep is very good. Make sure you go on the walkabout to Sorrento with him. it is very informative and an excuse to have some free drinks and perhaps a little temptation to visit some of the establishments during your stay.
Food at the hotel was well presented and plentifull, although for me lacked taste.
i really was so looking forward to the authentic Italian cuisine, but realise they must produce for the masses.
One week is really enough as everything is repeated week after week.
Staff are very friendly and can not do enough for you. If you do not like a meal that you have ordered on the evening, they are very quick to offer you an alternative.

If you are expecting to be in the thick of it and able to go for walks then this hotel is not for you, as it is above Sorrento in the mountains. If you want to walk outside to the next village be warned there are no paths, narrow streets with lots of blind bends, and Italians are crazy drivers. There is a courtesy bus which runs regularly to Sorrento. You must remember to book your ticket at reception even if it is only 30 mins before the bus leaves. If you do not have a ticket you will be asked to get off (and not to politely) as a young couple found out. It takes about 15-20 mins depending on the traffic through some very narrow streets with numerous bends. It can be abit teadious having to get this bus everytime you want to do anything.
Travelling around is very easy. Opted to do our own excursions. So much cheaper.
Pompei with tour operator 90 euros for 2 plus 11 Euros each entrance fee. Train from Sorrento almost every five minutes return 4.20 Euros each, and takes you to Pompei Scavi direct. I would advise to go with a tour guide which will cost you 10 Euros as Pompei is so large and the map does not correspond to the site and you could be walking around looking at the same things.
If you want to go further up the coast Amalfi etc a 24hr bus pass will cost you 7.20 Euros each which will allow unlimited travel on and off the buses for that period
Dont get me wrong the Nastro Azzuro hotel, pool, and staff was exceptional but this was not the holiday we are used to and we will be back to our carribean destinations.
We missed our walks along the beach.

This hotel was one of the best we have stayed in. The room we had was absolutely lovely (the hotel has recently been modernised): . We had a large bathroom with full size bath and shower etc.
The hotel is 7 kms from Sorrento but in fact we were thankful it was as Sorrento, when we went down in the courtesy bus, was extremely busy. Sorrento though is a very beautiful place and, we found, it not as expensive as people said it was. The position of the hotel was perfect with views of the mountains and valleys and a lovely view of the sea. The pool and outside facilities were great (plenty of sunbeds, but could do with a few more brollys). In the gardens were four poster sun beds, settees and chairs with squashy cushions and 3 jaccuzis which were nearly always empty, so any time of day we were able to get in them (there were also 2 jaccuzis in the pool). There was a bar called "the sun set bar" which we visited every evening as the views were spectacular. A fantastic and relaxing place to have a drink.
The food in the hotel was great and the staff very very friendly and worked extremely hard. All in all we had a fabulous and relaxing time. We would absolutely recommend this hotel, and have already done so.
We had only visited Rome in Italy before, and loved that city. We will certainly go back to Sorrento and will certainly go back to this hotel. By the way it is all inclusive: what more can we say about that.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a week at this hotel. I am going to divide this review into two sections. The first is an objective viewpoint about the hotel/package in general and the second is a subjective view and the reason why we will not return whilst well understanding the exceptional eulogies that other reviewers have given.

THE HOTEL/PACKAGE
The Thomson flights both outward and inward were absolutely bang on time and their airline staff were efficient and professional. We had no problems with our baggage and, depite being advised by the Thomson representative at Naples airport on the return journey that the Italians were being red hot on security/weight limits etc. all I can say is that I wouldn't want to be going through that airport if there was a serious security threat!
One girl had a full size cabin bag, a large handbag and a very large shop bag (not from the airport shops) and she breezed onto the aircraft. Good luck to her! The coach transfers were again timely and efficient. The Nastro Azurro was the first drop off on the arrival leg and, on return, the coach only picked up at that hotel and no others. As others have said, prepare yourself for mental Italian drivers but both the coach and hotel shuttle drivers were up on their game. We didn't go on any trips so cannot comment on the aforementioned Alesandro but we did think the hotel presence was a little contrived but, again, understand why many other reviewers have been very complimentary.

The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings with, weather permitting, marvellous views. The staff are absolutely superb. We upgraded to the Ocho Marino block but not including a sea view. Frankly, with the refurbishment of the bedrooms in the main block I would suggest that you do not bother unless you are really preoccupied with having a sea view in which case the Ocho Marino has some excellent outlooks on the upper floors. Our view is how much time does one actually spend in the room and the best views are to be had from the Sunset bar which is on top of the Ocho Marino block and open to all residents staying at the hotel. The upgrade block is in need of a bit of a facelift with the occasional cracked tile and flaking paint. For ladies there was nowhere in our bathroom to put toiletries and the lighting isn't good for putting on makeup. Meals are taken in the evening in the hotel's main restaurant and at lunchtime by the pool with breakfast being served either in the main restaurant or the downstairs restaurant that has an open aspect overlooking the mountains and very pleasant too! Ocho Marino residents receive a 'free' meal at the downstairs, so called 'a la carte' restaurant. We went and didn't float the boat. Certainly would not suggest you go without the free option as it is expensive. By the way, booking it with the free gratis option is not as easy as you might think. Be persistent! We would rate the overall food as acceptable. The buffets are very good as is the breakfast, however, the 'menu' meals were nothing exceptional and we thought that the management are trying so hard to please guests and thus it is hard to be critical yet simply thought that they should do a little less but better. Again, if you have a dietary problem they will arrange something. They are marvellous like that. If you have a concern - tell them! I heard one woman moaning that the beans were cold at breakfast. They were and when I mentioned it they had a piping hot platefull in front of me in no time. Don't do the typical British putting up and shutting up. Ask courteously and they will sort it. As I said the food is acceptable, not brilliant but we're certainly not complaining. The evening entertainment is typically middle of the road and about what you might accept, entertaining but not intrusive. Despite alcohol being freely available throughout the day and night up till midnight there was absolutely no trouble or boisterousness. You can have what you like from a beer to a mojito to a glass of wine. The wine by the way is not great and is the most likely thing to give you a thumping head in the morning. There was a situation one day when we had a Geordie motor mouth at the pool who had no comprehension that it was not necessary to shout in conversation that everyone else, like it or not, could hear but that was born out of ignorance and not deliberately offensive. In summary, allowing for the fact that Italy is expensive this hotel's most redeeming feature is that with the all inclusive package it provides EXCELLENT value for money, especially if you enjoy a drink!

WHY WE WILL NOT RETURN
The brochure description of this hotel is absolutely accurate. It is an all inclusive, package holiday for couples, set in beautiful surroundings 7km up in the hills above Sorrento. Occasionally, we ventured into Sorrento for a change - try the pizzas at Aurora as they are to die for. The pizza served by the pool is awful in comparison. One evening we decided to go down to the town for a meal and were recommended by reception to a seafood restaurant in a small bay on the opposite side of town to where the shuttle bus drops you off. Firstly, for a five minute taxi ride we were charged Euro 15!! Secondly, despite having linnen napkins etc. the restaurant (something Antonio) was shabby set in a shabby inlet bay and the food was very poor with the most redeeming feature being the bottle of very pleasant white wine from the region that was suggested. We had just wanted to have a romantic meal on our own. £100 later we left wishing we had eaten at the hotel. But this (bar the pizzas!) is pretty reflective of Sorrento which is bland and characterless. We thought that there would be more designer clothes shops but no and you need to be aware that all the shops close between about 12.30 and 15.30. A number of guests who went into town and booked to come back at a certain time came back early as their interest had been exhausted. I mention going into Sorrento as, and we have noone to blame but ourselves, because the hotel is a Thomson exclusive it is full of Brits and I can only try to pinpoint how it feels by saying I imagine it's a little like what a more up market but not sophisticated Butlins would be like. But going into Sorrento does not really work and other than that you're on an organised trip 'with Brits'. Each to their own and we are clearly in the minority but for us the hotel gets a 4 star but then the overall holiday only 3 star. By the way, some will mention the rat by the pool (which we did not see) but they say in the UK that you're never more than a few yards away from a rat wherever you are!

Room Tip: Unless you're going to spend a lot of time in your room don't bother to upgrade to the Ocho...

We stayed here in May 2011 - booked in the august before and thought we had a great deal for our money.
Having been to hotels all over the world, I can honestly say that this is amongst the best. We arrived shorlty after the change to Thomson only and spoke to couples that were there during the change over period who said that they had not been disturbed by the change.
We stayed in room 520 which was ground floor and had a huge terrace that looked out at the front of the hotel.
Room was clean, mini fridge, dressing gown, slippers, mood lighting semi powerful shower.
Bar area in the main lobby was lovely, I even joked with the bar staff and poured my own drinks at one point - unfortunately the staff were told off for this, when the manager phoned - but we had a laugh.
Restaurant was great, I attended the italian cookery class one day making gnocci and then much to my suprise had this served to me in the evening with my meal and I know if was def mine. Wine served at tables was very good quality and they give you the whole bottle.
You can request packed lunches if you want to venture out for the day, you just collect at breakfast and they are good quality with plenty to eat.
Pool area is lovely - pool was cold when we were there, so just went in for a quick cool off - pool towels supplied and waiter service for drinks round pool.
Fantastic views from the hotel and if you take the courtesy bus you need to visit the foreigners club for great views as well - photo's show more.
Met some lovely people who kept us entertained in the day and evenings
Overall great holiday and would go back to see how things have progressed
