This is a beautifully designed, modern museum, with extensive exhibits on the lives of Blasket Islanders, the work they did on the island, their influence on the revival of the Irish language, and the books that they both wrote themselves and inspired in others. Definitely see the 20-minute introductory film.
If this area of Ireland interests you at all, before you go you should read the recently published "On an Irish Island" by Robert Kanigel, which will make you eager to see and visit the Islands themselves.
The museum also has a very comfortable cafeteria with free Wifi, and some spectacularly good fish and chips among other things. There is a modest fee to visit the museum, but not to use the cafeteria or bookshop.
