We were in Meropi from the first of july till the 15. All we can say that we have a great time The staff were friendly and works very hard!! The food was excellent, every day it was a surprise! The room was clean only the pillows of the bed gave me a bit of trouble with sleeping it was so hard!. But you get used to it They came cleaning the room every day. 3 swimmingpools so you can Always searching for a nice and calm spot. We stayed there with 2 adults and 2 kids [13 and 10 years old] and they also had a great time! Maybe they give the staff a little bit headache from their kindercocktail ordening all the time but they were very happty there..Thank you Meropi staff for all your good services and special greets for glevcerio [or something like that] and the 2 chefkoks!!

I would say that this hotel is a 3.5 - 4* hotel. The only people who had problems during their stay were people who were rude to staff and who made too much noise.

I went for a little over a week from the 27th of June to the 6th of July. Staff were friendly at all times, the bar staff were always happy to help and would make you cocktails free of charge from the all inclusive drinks selection.

Food and drink - the food was always hot and edible, if you're a fussy eater there is still some basic food like chips and the odd burger and pasta's etc. But when in Greece expect Greek cuisine.

Rooms were always clean, towels changed every day and the same for the bed sheets. The maid always tried her best to tidy around our mess and nothing ever went missing!

The hotel manager has been called hitler in some of the reviews and he is far from this, he is a lovely and quiet man who always said hello.

The pools were amazing, deep and all a nice temperature and clean.

This is a family hotel and some people would do well to respect this. The young people are kept away from the family's in a less modern building but if I ran a hotel in malia I would do the exact same thing.

Me and my group of friends who were all 18 found that if you were polite to the staff they would be polite to you. These people earn minimal, Greece is in a crisis so the all inclusive is not going to be superb, but the staff try their best.

There are two shops across the road and the strip is two minutes away.

I would also recommend several visits to the Captain Hook bar. The owner of the bar aris was an amazing man and so was his wife and Hannah who worked behind the bar. They serve great food and cocktails and will allow you to play any music from their system.

All in all meropi is a good hotel for what you pay for, ignore reviews from disgruntled customers who probably caused trouble within the hotel

Room Tip: If you go to malia and don't visit the Captain Hook bar, you've missed out and treat people...

I visitied meropi hotel as a group of four lads last week.
The hotel initially looks like a dump from the front, inside the hotel is not so bad although the accomodation is nothing like the pictures and the beds are terribly uncomfy.
The cleanliness of the hotel was very good and the location of the hotel can not be beaten, just outside the noise of the main strip but with in easy walking distance and very close to a quiet beach.
The swimming pools are great untill the staff come down and moan at you for having two drinks beside you.
The main reception staff and one of the bar men (Jon) are great! so nice and will do anything to help you, the others are grumpy, rude and seem to be un aware that you are on holiday.
As a family hotel we expected it to be clean and friendly.
We were all inclusive, although it is the worst all inclusive i have visited ever.
No snacks during the day (I got shouted at for eating a bread roll from the canteen between meal times)
The alcoholic drinks were limited to local Raki, Ouzo and beer which were all unpleasant.
The food has flies all around it and is left out in the open with no covers for the duration of the evenings.
We ended up spending the whole holiday paying for food in a bar next to it called Captain hook bar. The owner is the best bar man i have ever met, knows how to have a good time and how to keep his customers happy!
We were so impressed with this that we are going back in august to stay self catering and plan to spend a lot of time in his bar!

Room Tip: Don't bother going to this hotel. Next visit we will be staying in hotel vergas next door which...

Just got back from a one week holiday at the Meropi with 8 other guys, all aged under 25. Based on the reviews we were expecting the worst but in fact we were pleasantly surprised and in fact couldn't really fault the hotel for the week we were there. The rooms are basic yes, but they were cleaned everyday and they fulfilled their need; somewhere to rest your head after a night out... The food isn't anything to sing about although the salad bar and puddings were pretty spot on. At the end of the day they offer enough to cater for everyone's needs. Alcoholic drinks are limited we stuck to beer for the week and the odd red wine with orange juice (bit like Sangria). If you want anything more you have to pay but it was a welcomed break from the fish bowls and pints of vodka lemonade you drink all night down in the bars and clubs. The staff were helpful including the owner who was always pleasant with us and did not threaten us like other people have mentioned. Giannis is the chap who works behind the bar who is a top bloke, did the most to make our week as great as possible and was always about for a chat. To conclude, not really sure why there are so many complaints about the Meropi, if you are going to Malia on the lash and want somewhere to stay next to the strip and on the cheap then stay here. If you respect the hotel and the people, your holiday will be hassle free.

Myself and 3 friends paid a ridiculous amount for all inclusive for 1 week in July 2012. The food was limited and found ourseleves eating out most days. There are only two alcoholic drinks which are all inclusive and these were not enjoyable.
The staff were rude and completely took advantage of the fact that it was our first holiday without parents and looked down on us because we were 18. The luxury appartments they advertise exist, however they will not place you in them as they feel you will be disruptive to other guests being the party resort of Malia. but we did not pay for the dog kennel we recieved.
There was absolutely NO entertainment, NO atmosphere in the bar, and extremely empty.
The request to change move rooms was ignored and told they were too busy, but when we asked why they never opened the bar they responded 'the hotel isnt busy enough'.
We had a huge ants nest in our rooms and were covered in bites by the end of our week from hell.
I would never reccomend this to ANYONE.

Dear Guests,

thank you for your review ....one year later.
You have uploaded some interesting photos regarding your apartment.
As an answer to this,i have recently uploaded our photos of the very same room type(family apartment garden view)to show people how the apartments really look like when they are provided to guests at the begining of the season .Fresh painted, thoroughly cleaned and checked by the technichian for damages. How they end up after certain customers stay,is a mystery to us too.

Thank you

I have stayed at this hotel twice in 2010 and 2011, the staff where friendly, there was a great choice of food the rooms where clean and i stayed in the old part yes it was a bit dated in that area but the pools are great and so are the grounds.
It is quiet thats why we like it you dont have to go far if you want to rave and its ded handy if you want to get around the island.
We are thinking of going again this year.
For the price it can not be beat
