Beautiful apartment and immaculate grounds and pool area. Surrounded by olive groves and goats walking by. Apartments are set high in the hill on the outskirts of Malia so very quiet and secluded. Views from the balcony are stunning. Owners Marie Reine and Stelios are in their own home behind but not overlooking the apartments. They are lovely. Great welcome and Stelios met us in the town when we arrived late in the dark to lead us up to the flat. Glad he did as it's a tricky steep road in. 4WD not needed though. Hosts there if required and willing to help in any way but equally leave to yourselves if that is what you want. Marie Reine gave us a delicious local breakfast on their terrace on the first morning as we hadn't had time to shop. So welcoming. Lovely touches in the apartment too on arrival - the host's own olive oil, bowl of fruit, water. Toilet paper, salt and pepper, washing up liquid, kitchen roll all provided so no need to buy. Lots of thought put in to the user experience. Washing machine and soap powder available free for use too. Highly recommended. Malia itself was not for us but the apartment is not in the town and was an excellent base for exploring the Iraklion and Lasithi provinces of Crete especially the wine country and surrounding villages.
We visited Villamira again after our first stay a few years ago and it's still a heavenly place to be. The views, the calm, the welcome, the apartment itself... Very very much recommended. Our kids enjoyed the garden and pool a lot. Thanks to our hosts, we felt so welcome! See you again in a few years.
