Travelled July 2014, went with 4 friends on our first girls' holiday at the end of A levels. We didn’t know what to expect because there were very limited reviews on the place.
Great hotel for all people, would definitely return back to this hotel and recommend it.
A family run hotel so everyone was lovely. The Apartments were clean and spacious. All had a kitchen area and a kitchen table. Balcony was a good size with chairs and table. Beds were uncomfortable but it’s Malia you aren’t going to get much better. The hotel is only small so there weren’t loads of people there which is good when you just want to chill out during the day.
It was a very safe place to be, the staff are lovely and friendly and make you feel at home. The cleaner comes every day, she was very good but she doesn’t give much warning and just comes into the room.
Air con was 20 euros for the week which is good and you will need it(put on low during the night because when we woke up in the morning the room was freezing) I think the safe was about 3 euros a day.
Pool is a good size with plenty of sunbeds, bar area is also a good size. Food at the hotel was a good price- about 2 euros for a plate of chips and 1 euro for an ice cream. Buy a ball or a lilo to keep you entertained (good way to make friends too).
Quiet hotel- cannot hear the noise from the strip and guests are told to be quiet after midnight. When you come in from the strip there is a security man who will tell you to be quiet. Only can hear noise if people next to you have music in their room.. There is music by the room in the day, but not too loud if you want to sleep
Distance- 5 minute walk to the strip, it’s a very safe walk too. There is a pizza place on the corner which is cheap and also a general restaurant next to it. All restaurants have the same food and all the same prices. Other food places are on the strip with staff who are always friendly and free Wi-Fi!! We didn’t go to the beach so I don’t know how far that is. But if any of you go to the 24/7 bar it is about a 10 minute walk. If you walk out the other entrance of hotel there is a petrol station if you hire a quad or moped, there are a few gift shops and also a small supermarket. About 10 minutes from the hotel there is a SPAR which stocks pretty much everything.
Word of advice for young people- don’t get roped into buying events. We bought tickets for Mayhem which was 30 euros- we were told that all drinks would be free for 2 hours, male strippers, uv paint, bar crawl…basically it sounded amazing. We got there on the night and we had to pay full price for drinks and they were more expensive than the deals that you get if you go out on the strip. We were there for 45 minutes and then went and did our own thing for the night. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. This stopped us from doing other events, I really wanted to do the paint party but we had already paid for this.
RECOMMEND- Reflex bar (80’s bar, great music and great people), Help Bar, Candy Club, Mode Club, 24/7 bar and the karaoke bar The strip was great, you will have all the reps pestering you with their deals, they are all the same but at the end of the day that is their job. Also you’ll get to know most of them and make great friends with them so the deals get better!
