We have just arrived back from the Cretan Malia Park so I thought I would share our experiences with you while they are still fresh.
We stayed all inclusive for the first time and felt compelled to eat and drink as mush as possible to get our monies worth, regulars to this hotel tended to be half board so make your own mind up what your best option is financially.

The food was very nice and so much choice at every sitting, including breakfast, if you want chocolate sponge and custard for breakfast it was there. Every style to suit every taste, we could not fault it, simply outstanding.

The staff on the whole were friendly, especially at the lobby bar. Overall we felt we were noticed and not just another punter who would disappear after a week. On one occasion we made a comment about something and out of the blue it was resolved to our entire satisfaction, they did not have to do this and to be honest they had to go out of their way to achieve this outcome.

We had a ground floor apartment / bungalow overlooking the pool, it was really nice and if we fancied the beech for a few hours it was literally 1 minutes walk from that location. The apartment was small but so what we were only in it to sleep. The beds have those annoying liquid proof covers on so take it off or you will be very hot during the night. The air con was effective and quiet.

The entertainment team or animation team were a friendly bunch and did all they could with the resources available. It was disappointing that we did not see any top rate acts flown in from the UK like other Thomson people at other hotels got to see. Maybe we were unlucky that week or perhaps that hotel just does not get them at all!!

This is definitely the holiday for you if you want peace and quiet, the very high majority of the guests were retired and German and kept themselves to themselves.

So to summarise the food, cleanliness, friendliness were great, the entertainment somewhat basic but delivered with great enthusiasm from a fantastic animation team.

We booked an adults only holiday with Thomson's for some peace and quiet and were surprised at the number of babies and children who were there. This did not turn out to be a problem for us but if you are by the pool and 6 children are splashing and screaming about it might be for you!!

if you want any specific questions answered message me directly.

Thank you

Paul

The bungalow style accommodation is set across superb gardens promoting a peaceful holiday experience. There are rooms in the main building which overlook the main pool & entertainment area so I would recommend upgrading - we had a pool view room which overlooked the lazy river pool towards the beach, fantastic! There are plenty of sun beds available and many guests stay close to their rooms which means the pool areas never felt overcrowded.

Food was ok, and a meal at both the Greek and Italian restaurant was included in our all inclusive package - worth taking advantage of this. Beware though - all inclusive is not exactly what it says on the tin!!! The Pergola restaurant is aimed at half board guests and eating here at lunchtime will incur a supplement, this wasn't clear and slightly embarrassing when sat down to eat only to be told you have to pay for the meal. Also, some drinks incur a supplement such as freshly squeezed orange juice (why??) Wifi was also charged at £30 a week, which I wouldn't have expected.

We walked into old Malia town which was a pleasant 20 minute stroll and also took the 'happy train' from the hotel entrance into the mountains - both worth a try!

The service we received in the hotel was very good in all areas, the rooms were adequate with nice little touches like wine & fruit in room on arrival, fridge & 'mosquito plug' provided. The hotel also has recycling points in the grounds and used a minimal amount of plastics which was good.

There were very few British guests when we stayed but overall this was a lovely holiday. If rest and relaxation is top of your holiday priorities then this hotel should be on your shortlist!

Our family stayed here in the last 2 weeks of August (myself, partner & 8 year old daughter).
We went with Thomson Holidays from Manchester. We had an excellent holiday. This is a fair and honest review of the hotel.
First can I start with the staff.....first rate! From our first contact with the hotel via e-mail, as we booked an upgrade directly with them, they were very helpful and efficient (Chronis)
When we arrived at the hotel the wonderful Eleni was there to help us. We were informed of an upgrade problem before we travelled but this waqs sorted immediatley on arrival.
The fantastic bar staff, Stathis, Aris, Yahannis, Antonis, Giorgios, Julia & Giorgios at the beach bar, Nicki at the pool bar, all friendly and brilliant people to meet and get to know.
Restaurant staff also brilliant and helpful.
The food was very good....as always on AI there is food you won't like but generally plenty to satisfy....again after 2 weeks you can get a bit tired of it but they had a Greek & Italian restaurant to swap to if you wanted a change. The drinks were great, the beer, Alpha Beer spot on.
A big thank you to Katerina & Dominica for being so nice with our daughter whenever they seen her, she loved you very much.
The rooms may be getting a little dated but were always kept very clean. However as you only ever sleep in the rooms or get ready in them, the minimum time is always spent in them.
The pools were great, we upgraded to a poolside room which was well worth it, you get to be on the river style pool which is brilliant!!
The beach is also excellent, bit rocky as you venture out but still great.
The flight and private transfers with Thomson were also excellent, on time and friendly people.
The hotel is well away from Bar Street and very quiet. But please venture into Malia, it has an old town set away from the main strip which has some beautiful restaurants and bars. If you go ask for a taxi to Tottolotto (my spelling) and then after that ask were Stathis bar is you will have an excellent time. Overall very happy with Crete and the wonderful people....Give it a try!!

Just returned from a one-week stay at the Cretan Malia Park Hotel. The hotel is really great, the gardens are exceptionally beautiful, the rooms are very nice and comfortable (we had a pool-front room, gorgeous!), the food is delicious (I only ate their Greek specialties and they are really good!), the staff is SO nice, the private beach is wonderful... I highly recommend it! Also, it's far away from ugly Malia and all the hustle there...

Room Tip: The pool-front rooms are great, because you have a direct access to a pool and they're not far f...

Just returned with the family from a week at the Cretan Malia Park. The hotel is well away from Malia if this should be a concern, with two adjoining and decent sized rooms, beautifully kept gardens, large grass areas with plenty of trees for shade, sandy beach and good blue flag sea. The hotel and staff looked after us extremely well over the stay, a late buffet meal at midnight on our arrival. Recommend pool side accommodation on the long pool area, (would think rooms recently refurbished) we were upgraded on day two when they became available at no extra charge and the all inclusive option as this is well worth the cost even though we are not big drinkers, its good to have no problem with signing for drinks or having an account to pay at the end. This also allows two visits to the speciality restaurants although the food in main buffet restaurant was very good as was the beach bar with crepes in the mornings to the delight of my grand children with milk shakes. We did take an option of keeping one of our rooms until 1800hrs on day of departure as we had late flights but the all inclusive package was available even though we had checked out until our transport arrived to take us to the airport. Staff attitude was outstanding nothing was to much trouble to ensure we had a good holiday - highly recommended.

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at this hotel. We were a party of 5 adults and one child. (6 months old)
First of all I feel I must start with the flight out from Manchester, the cabin crew were very friendly and made the flight quite enjoyable and the pilot gave regular update which was good now there is no in-flight entertainment.
On arrival at Heraklion airport we received our bags very promptly.
The transfers to the hotel are by taxi but as we were a large party the Thompson rep had arranged a mini bus so we could all travel together. This was very welcome as we had quite a large amount of luggage. (Thanks Mr Parry)
On arrival at the hotel we were made very welcome and given ice cold drinks. (We found the reception helpful at all time during out holiday)
As we were the only people who arrived at the hotel the check in was very swift. 3 of the party were allocated rooms in the main hotel block. (Which was fine) and the other 2 with the child were allocated in a ground floor room in the gardens.
The rooms are basic but during our stay were kept clean with clean towels, if needed, left every day. Beach towels can be changed daily if required.
The hotel grounds are a joy to see with every type of flower, shrub and cacti you can think of and are kept in an immaculate condition.
The pool areas are also kept very clean and there is no shortage of sun beds. The beach area is good with a life guard patrolling during the day. Whilst we were there the red flag was flying on the beach and to his credit he did his best to keep people out of the water (even so a small minority did ignore his instructions) so that meant he was stuck watching these people to make sure they were safe.
We booked the all inclusive option which is well worth the extra.
The food was good but did become repetitious over the 2 week, but on saying that there was quite a good choice at every sitting.
While we were there we had the lobster meal which was served in the Al a carte restaurant. Well worth a try.(It is at an extra cost)
The beach area is quite nice with a seating area on the beach, the service in this bar was very good and the barman very friendly and helpful.
The lobby bar again offered good service with the waiters priding themselves in remembering you order.
For the second week the couple with the baby were upgraded to a beach front bungalow which was a very nice gesture. The others were offered upgrades to pool view rooms.
Over all a good hotel that we would consider revisiting in the future.

Room Tip: Beach front bungalows are well located.
