Description: "Le Chapitre" restaurant is located in the former Chapter House of Le Couvent Royal of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume. During summer, come and enjoy your meal in the historic cloister on the terrace set up in the garden overlooking the patio while admiring the beautiful Gothic-style vaults. The chef offers a delicious cuisine full of Provencal flavours.

“Great ambience in historical surroundings”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

Lovely restaurant overlooking cloisters and garden. You can eat outside in the summer.
We stayed in February and enjoyed a well presented meal professionally served.
At this time of year, the dinner menu is limited to three starters, four main courses and three desserts excluding the cheeseboard.
Wine can be purchased by the glass at 4€
In the summer the restaurant also offers a "Provencal" menu

“Poor restaurants in the Var”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

We have lived in the Var for 20 years and hence know many of the local restaurants. For ambience, le Couvent Royal scores well - for food and value it deserves a star for "worst in the Var". We have dined here 3 times; the first occasion was fine, the second was poor - the (unacceptable) excuse from the hotel being that it was the chef's night off - , while the third (29/09/12) was dire. When complaining, the waitress admitted that she had been embarrassed to serve some of it but the chef's mood was such that she hadn't the nerve to tell him!! 3 of us had cuisses de grenouilles as a main course, which was simply a small pile of tiny legs - nearer tadpoles than frogs - with virtually no meat, 'decorated' with a tiny turnip and a quarter of a carrot and virtually devoid of flavour or seasoning. For those who chose a salad, the advertised mascapone sauce involved three drops in the corners of the plate! The waitresses were very pleasant, although the Maitre d' had obviously been involved in the chef's problems and was distinctly surly. We gave coffee a miss, and repaired to the town!
