“Little gem”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2012

This restaurant is tucked away in a small alley in the old part of Pezenas. The waitress was on her own and very attentive. Wanted to speak English, but we perservered in French which went down well.

We both had steak (one with sauce Bearnaise, the other with sauce poivre vert) both of which were cooked to our liking (maybe redder than normal!) The house red wine was a St Emilion which was perfect for the beef.

For desert we had creme catalan (!!!!!) The cost was approx 50 Euros for two so really good value for money

“Delightful little restaurant in Pezenas courtyard”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2012

This small restaurant is located in a courtyard in the centre of the historic quarter of this amazing town. You will be welcomed by a smiling waiter and invited to sample the pate de fois GRAS of the maison. This is served with slices of thinly toasted bread and fig confiture- utterly delicious. Terrific atmosphere, good food under the Pezenas sky- perfect.

“Amateurish food, service and design and no credit cards!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2011

We have just been on a weeks trip to the Languedoc with myself the other half and two boys aged 11 and 13. I am leaving a number of reviews of where we ate and stayed and hope you find them useful.
This was our first night in Pezenas and the worst!
We were walking aroung the pedestrianised streets and came across a number of restaurants that all looked good from the outside. There are a number that are semi open air with little or no roof. We fancied a bit of fish and liked the look of the menu. The restaurant was reasonably busy so we went in - a mistake!
The interior was a failed rustic style, amateurish and untidy. The tables were canteen style and wobbly, the floor was concrete and it felt like we were sitting on the side of a hill.
The service was hectic, slow and it was clear they wanted us out before we had even started. It was late and we had looked around so much that we had no confidence we would find anything else so we persevered.
Moving onto the food, we shared a foie gras platter to start with which was delicious but probably bought in. We knew this after the main courses arrived, an inedible fish, overcooked prawns, a burnt steak all thrown at us with a vigorous dose of French disdain. To top things off they did not accept credit cards which they then pointed out was written on the outside menu in writing about 1/1000 inch high.
If you find yourself in Pezenas, do not go there. Even if it is late then go to the take away Pizza au feu which is a surpisingly good find.
