“Very nice French food.”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

Really nice French food beautifully presented. The set menu of the day started with a superb Rabbit Rillette followed by white fish on a bed of ratatouille with Aoli. The house Rose was pleasant. Only let down slightly by the service, we had to ask for our bread and the later for our wine.

“Real French Food!”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Awesome food and decor but be warned, this is not a restaurant for tourists, It is mostly for locals and regular french vacationers who come here year after year. If you decide to dine there, you may be tolerated at best or ignored at worst if you act like a tourist but if you make the effort to be friendly and engaged, your experience will be a hundred times better. We had lunch there with friends and a local artist they befriended: Emmanuel Flipo who actually drew all the frescos and paintings in the restaurant. We were treated like VIPs! Food was excellent and not pretentious or rich as it is in some of those highly rated Michelin restaurants. Local wine is on offer and is delicious. We just ordered wine by the pitcher and it was delicious. Don't miss it if you want to taste real french fare at an affordable price!

“Awesome!”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

The service was 5Star, and the food was unique in presentation and done to perfection. They were accommodating to my food requirements with limited English!

“Don't bother. Really.”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

Les Palmiers was recommended to us by the owners of our B&B. That always makes me a little suspicious...are they concerned about us or about the kick-back or special rate they get from the owner...we local business-people need to stick together! Despite this we decided to book there, mainly due to the positive TripAdvisor reviews. Unfortunately, a big mistake......
We were seated at a very draughty table near the entrance, which was a bad start
I always hate to get the feeling that there is a two-tier society, locals and tourists, but here it is much in evidence. From the kissy-kissy reception from the owner (he cannot greet mere tourists), to the fact that locals were given complementary olives and charcuterie on arrival, I could not escape the feeling that they just wanted our money.
The decor (which others have described here better than I can) is probably considered bleeding edge chic by the good citizenry of Pezenas, but they forget that their visitors live in the outside world, and dine regularly in Paris, London and Rome. The food sounded interesting on the menu, but was bland and partially cold. The skin on my fish was burnt...not seared, I know and love seared, but burnt. So the overwhelming flavour was...burnt. I mentioned this to the waiter, who was primarily concerned with who was looking at him, and he said he would "tell the cook". If this was the same cook who occasionally emerged from the kitchen with a cigarette in his mouth, shared his smoke with us all then returned to the kitchen, I am not in the least surprised that I heard no more of the matter.
This is a real shame. There are so many GOOD small restaurants in Pezenas, this place is trying too hard to be something it can never be in a back street of a back street French province. Instead of trying to be big city chic, it should give us what we came here for....musty provincial France.

“Wonderful food and ambiance in the heart of the old town”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

This is our favourite restaurant in Pezenas, having vacationed here for many years. Portions are small but creative and tasty. It's a bit pricey but it's still good value for what you get.
