After some insecurity to whether our booking had been accepted - we had to call a few hours before to clear that out - we were seated in the cosy inner court. All in all, we had a very nice dinner. The "Terrine de foie gras" was an excellent starter. The "Piece de Veau" a well prepared main course. And the classical "Baba au Rhum" a sensational dessert.
In addition to the service and the food, the setting and the other guests contributed to a memorable evening. One could fear that a restaurant with such good reviews and reputation would attract a stiff audience, or repel families with small children. But not!

We had a lovely meal in the garden at L'Entre Pots and the restaurant seems very smart. Unfortunately, whilst the service was very efficient (apart from the fact that you always have to wait an age for menus and first drinks wherever you go in France) it lacked any warmth.

Good service is never enough, unless it is well seasoned with hospitality, but if they need to get that bit right. They have Bib Gourmand from Michelin and that shouldn't just apply to food and prices. Still worth a visit if in Pezenas.

The food is beautifully prepared and delicious. We liked that the main course could be a half course, after a delicious starter.

We had been looking forward to eating here after all the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor and so we booked for our last evening of a holiday in Pezenas. We booked for 7.30 and arrived just after, to find the door to the restaurant open, so we entered into a space that was cold and unfriendly, where two other parties of diners were also waiting. No tables were laid up, there was no-one at the bar, and we were not clear as to whether this was where we would be eating - it was bland and cold and felt a little like an airport lounge! no-one was there to offer us a drink or a menu - we could see the staff still finishing their meal (sitting at the guest tables, and smoking) in the outside patio dining area at the back - something that seemed to us extremely unprofessional. There was no attempt to greet us, except for a cursory "wait a minute please" in passing from someone who appeared to be a waitress and was laying the tables. So we sat uncomfortably at a bare table, not sure if the restaurant was even open yet. In all our decades of dining in most regions of France, Italy, London, New York etc. (including many Michelin starred restaurants) we have never experienced such a complete disregard for the importance of a welcome upon arrival and we were on the point of leaving to eat elsewhere, as we were called to our table. The food was variable - my a la carte dishes were good, but my husband had the set menu and found the fish main course very bland and disappointing. the wine was ok, although we had to request extra ice for the ice bucket as the white was not sufficiently chilled. Our waitress did not smile once all evening and we had the sense that we were being treated rather condescendingly - perhaps because we are not French? Although we made every effort to converse in French, which we speak reasonably well. The maitre d'/ Owner (?) was pleasant and cordial, but the two young women assisting him looked as if they'd prefer to be doing anything rather than serving the guests! This was the final night of a two week stay in the Languedoc area (third trip to France this year) and the only time that we can ever recall being unwilling to leave a tip. Maybe this was just a bad night, but we will not remember L'Entre Pot as a highlight of one of our many regular trips to the region. For us, welcome, ambience and professionalism is as important as the food and wine being served and, sadly, this restaurant was decidedly cold and unwelcoming as far as we were concerned.
