“Really good food, rooms average”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2011

Stayed here as part of a large group, some in the main hotel, others in the annex. Those in the main hotel complained about small rooms. Our room in the annex was fine. When we arrived it was cold (7-10°C) and it took a day or so to get the heating on. The hotel and especially the annex overlooks the road from the autoroute into Nuits, so it was quite noisy with the window open and not silent with it shut. It's 15 minutes walk from the station, 20 from Nuits so a car is really essential. We were on half board and the meals were really good, but the bar prices seemed very high and some people went to the nearby (<5 min walk) supermarket to stock up. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Free snacks were offered when the group returned late from trips on a couple of the nights. Our only complaints were that a couple of times the maid only left one bath towel for us, and twice the bed was not actually made - just the cover pulled up.

Room Tip: Ask for the annex but keep the windows shut for sleeping.

This place is great for your stopoff on the way to or from further south in France. It is 100m from the motorway exit (A31, exit 1), has a pool, family rooms for 5 (we had the annex which was fine and nice and warm), good restaurant, lovely wine list, child-friendly staff, good breakfast, quiet, good parking and 24 hour reception. We stayed on our way home to the UK in December 10 and had a really restfull night. The pool looked nice (didn't try it though!) and the rooms were fine. It's even worth a two night stop as it's in the middle of all the Burgundian vineyards. Prices are fine depending on which wine you drink at dinner!
Thoroughly recommended and it must be ok because is was a Logis de France hotel.

Why has no one written about this hotel before? I often wonder when I find a real gem that has never been commented on by previous guests. In this case it's propably because they want to keep it to themselves. This hotel is less than 100 meters from the beach and looks out onto it.

We originally booked in for one night but very quickly changed it to five. It was lucky they had space as it was full for the remainder of our stay. We soon learned why

I have rated it excellent overall, but the rooms are not quite of the same standard as the magnificent restaurant. That is not to say the rooms were not of a high standard, just not as high as the catering. They were immaculately clean and well presented.

As well as guests the restaurant was also used every night by family parties of locals and visitors who were obviously often repeated business and welcomed as friends. Always a good sign.

The charges were amazing. The best rooms are 75 Euro (£50) per night for two, with sea views, but the best deal has to be the demi-pension (half-board). This costs 130 Euro (less than £100) per night for TWO. That's for four courses with eight or nine choices taken from the table d' hote menu. I have to admit I was not sure until I booked out that it wasn't the 75 Euro PLUS the 130 Euro per night, and to be frank I was afraid to ask. The standards were so good I just couldn't believe that we were getting it all for 130 Euro per night.

Who cares what the night life was like, I just made it bed and lay down!

For military buffs though, if your purpose in visiting the area is to visit the D-Day beaches etc, next door is a small gem of a museum. Dedicated to the men of men of Brigadier, The Lord Lovat's Special Service Brigade, and especially to Commandant Kieffer's 4th (French) Commando who freed the town on 6th June 1944. You'll find the boulevard outside the hotel named after him, and various other streets and public facilities named after his unit and commanding officer. The lady on duty the day we were there was a mine of information as her father is one of Kieffer's original 177 men.
