“good home cooked food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2012

We had never eaten at the Pissouri Sq tavern in 7 years of visiting the village but we were impressed by it. Good service, simple food at a good price

“Home cooking at its best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2012

This place is lovely, and very simple and unpretentious. Waiting staff are friendly too. The place has a great atmosphere on a Wednesday night when they put on a traditional Cypriot show! A must see!

“Friendly Traditional Taverna”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2012

A family run taverna owned and managed by husband and wife team Aristos and Yoda Foutas who are pleasant hosts. I have eaten at the Pissouri Square Tavern on numerous occasions over the last 10 years. This holiday we only ate their once as other tavernas in the village and in the Bay offer more variety and atmosphere. Prices have crept up over time and the taverna no longer offers the same value for money as previously. Meat is well-cooked but only chips and rice are served as accompaniments, The menu absolutely lacks fresh vegetables. Pork chops are enormous as they are in many tavernas in the area. This taverna sadly is in a time-warp and must move with the times if it is to survive, Crockery needs updating - no more plastic or metal plates please. Petros Foutas is sadly missed by all, his personality shone like a star, but his position as Executive Secretary on the Pissouri Council means he has no time to work in the family taverna. A pity for the taverna but great for the village!

“Traditional Cypriot Taverna”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2012

I first visited this Taverna looking for a reasonably priced decent size frappe (if you haven't tried this iced cold coffee you should - at least once!) and was pleased that it was large for 3 euros rather than half size that is common in tourist areas. It was made to my taste and I enjoyed it.
I was given a leaflet giving details of price reductions on main meals.
My husband and I tried it out the following evening. It was good value for money. I had moussaka which was served in a good sized dish (some tourist places just give you a piece from a large tray. It was good and looked as though it had been freshly prepared. My husband tried the pork kebab which was well cooked, reasonable size - but not by Cypriot standards. Both meals were served with a small salad garnish and nice potato chips. We felt that the meal was good value although the drinks prices were slightly higher than other places in the village
