In line with the good Bulgarian restaurants you can have a nice dinner in a fresh courtyard. Very well located in front of main square. Keep it into consideration.

“Best place in town except for busy hours”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

We went there a few times in different times of the day. It seems that it's very, very important when you go there and this could influence a lot your experience.
The first time we went in the evening just around 7-7:30 p.m. and there were only a few tables occupied, but when we went during the day, somewhere around 1-2 p.m., it was crowded and the waiters couldn't catch up with everybody, service was slower.
I forgot to give them a personal feedback to hire more people if needed, because it really is the only drawback of the place in rush hours and days.
Otherwise I give 5's to everything - food is perfect, I highly recommend "Hadji Gencho"speciality - a it's a pork meal - the best pork I've ever eaten..really! :)
The atmosphere of the place is fantastic, since it's situated in an original old house, which was owned by some of the wealthier citizens back in the day. The inner part of the restaurant consists of a few separate rooms, so in case you prefer a bigger privacy, you can choose a room instead of the big entrance hall where the rooms are bigger and waiters and people pass. We visited the place on Friday evening, when there was some nice live music. It's not too noisy, and yet if you prefer to be even quieter, the rooms are a great choice.

I give 4 stars only because of the service in busy hours.

“Did not get the attention of the waiter for 10 minutes and left.”
Reviewed June 8, 2013 via mobile

Did not get the attention of the waiter for 10 minutes and left. I did not get a hello and had to find a menu by myself. The waiter was serving the table next to ours but did not pay attention to us.

“Average”
Reviewed October 12, 2009

Expected more from this restaurant. named after a great old Bulgarian guy I was sure the food will be great. But it was cold, re-warmed food from the morning, maybe even from yesterday. The waitress was kind of nice but in the end when we payed she took authomatically her tip...without letting us giving it to her... This was so annoying!
