The Nine Arch Bridge is one amongst the must watch places if you in Ella. It can be covered along with Little Adams peak.

Our Hotel owner rightly told us to climb down from Tea Factory to the Nine Arch bridge, since we from hotel at 3 pm and planned to cover both Little Adams Peak and Nine Arch bridge by evening. Just take a left after the tea factory which leads to the road/trail to the Railway track. Local people and homes on the way will guide you.

The trail takes you in between the two tunnels, just take a walk to the left hand side to reach the Nine Arch Bridge. Spend half hour enjoying the beauty. In case you are lucky (just like us) you may catch a glimpse of a train passing through the tunnel and on the bridge which is an amazing sight indeed.

So if u fit and raring to go, walk from Ella to Nine Arch Bridge and then to Little Adam's Peak. If you wanna cut the time and stress do the reverse.

It was good but kind of like....oh there's the bridge. We went to mini Adams peak, the tea plantation, and then the bridge and followed the tracks back to town. Where a hagan d sunscreen. When you leave the 98 acre resort make a right at reception and then a left at the junction after the tea plantation. Then walk down down down until your each the tracks and make a left on them. Good luck!

Unfortunately the train was delayed - so we decided to leave. Enjoyed tea at a lady next to 9 arch. Enjoyed to view a home of local Sri Lankans. Was amazed by the fact that they had a computer with internet access.

Excellent hike starting at the train station in Ella. Walk along the railroad tracks (there's plenty of time to step off for the occasional train). You can continue past the beautiful bridge to Demodara (total walking time approx. 2.5 hours). Walking in the tracks requires concentration, so don't forget to stop and look around every so often! We decided to walk back to Ella along the road. Quite beautiful, through small villages and tea plantations, but that adds at least 3 - 4 more hours, so be sure to calculate for daylight as you don't want to be caught on the road in the dark. If you get tired, you might flag down a tuk tuk or a bus.

We had such a lovely time at the bridge! It is a 45 minutes walk over the railway and it is best to check beforehand at what time the train will pass, we did not but were lucky.

What the trip made it very special was the visit to the local family above the bridge. A 49 year old lovely lady will approach you and ask you to stay for tea and cookies. You will soon know that lot of travelers has done so before because every visitor write something for here in a paper. If you're lucky you will meet her husband and boys who are just as nice as here. Do not hesitate because you will also experience a great view from her house at the bridge! Moreover it is nice to see her house. This unique experience only will cost you a tip but last a lot of memories!
