What a shame we only booked one night at Morning Mist. It is such a delightful place and Pat the owner made us very welcome despite the fact that we were rather late in arriving. She had cooked us a lovely supper even though we hadn't booked it. The setting is lovely and we would have loved to be able to explore more of the countryside. Hopefully we will be able to return one day and we will make sure that we have spend several days then and just chill out. We wish Pat all the best with her venture and would recommend anyone wanting to explore the tea estates to stay at Morning Mist Guesthouse. All the best Sue and Maddy.

We stayed in Morning Mist for 5 days and enjoyed every moment despite the fact that for three of the days it rained Pat the owner made us feel so much at home. Nothing was too much trouble for her and her helper Madu. Pat is an excellent cook and our delicious evening meals were a cause for celebration in the good company of the other guests. Pat is so friendly and welcoming that we all felt like one big family. The gueshouse is situated high in the hill country with wonderful views from all the bedrooms, all of which have balconies. There is plenty to do locally: walking to the nearby Amba tea plantation, or down to see the waterfall, or going into Ella, or taking a great train ride from Ella to Hapatule, one of the greatest train journeys in the world in our view. For those who want to relax in a lovely environment we thoroughly recommend Morning Mist. Go see for yourself!.

Room Tip: All rooms have balconies and great views so there is no great difference. Ask for one with an ensuit...

Many places claim to be a home away from home - but seldom is. Pat does not claim anything, but delivers a true home away from home and so much more. The hospitality, beautiful location, outstanding cooking (local and international), friendliness and help with the kids were all aspects that made the visit unique and memorable.

We spend 4 nights with Pat and were truly sad when we had to leave. Where many places do not receive kids, Pat is happy to do so and was amazingly helpful in entertaining them, when we had lunch or dinner for us to have a little welcoming down time. Pat's staff were also very nice and helpful in every way possible. Pat rightly calls herself a home stay and we really enjoyed the dinners in her living room with the other guests. While savouring her great food we had interesting conversations with people from all around the world. Pat has 4 rooms, which makes the experience very cozy and intimate.

While staying at Pat's, we ventured out for day trips. A small trek to Little Adam's peak, a visit to Ella, a ride with the train along a very scenic route, and a few smaller treks around Morning Mist.

We can highly recommend a long, relaxing stay at Morning Mist

We stayed in the morning mist guesthouse in January 2013. We received a very hearty welcome from Patricia and her staff.

Patricia is the perfect host, she speaks fluent English, French and Singalese and she knows a lot about the area. During our stay she helped us a lot in planning our next steps in our trip.

The house is beautiful and The rooms are very comfortable and spacious. All rooms have a terrace on which you can have a 360 degrees view of the mountains and tea plantation around the house.

The area is very peaceful and relaxing. The guesthouse is very close to Ella and there are many walks in the area.

The food was suberb, it's possible to eat the traditional Sri Lankan food or western meals, all homemade.

We would recommend this guesthouse to anyone going to the Ella area.

Room Tip: Email Patricia and she will be glad to help you select the best room for you.

We stayed with Pat in December and she was absolutely lovely. Her cooking is great, and she's a genuinely warm and inviting person. There's a couple of nearby walks you can do from the house that take you up a hill with great views, or down to the nearby river. Both take about half an hour.

We stayed in lots of places in Sri Lanka but Pat's house was the only place that felt like an actual home. We recommend to everybody.

Room Tip: Not all rooms are en-suite so check with Pat to see which one you're getting.

After a very long drive up from Yala sanctuary we finally got to this most gorgeous location in the midst of a former tea estate. The guest house has 360 deg panoramic views of the surrounding area which is breathtaking.
The hostess Pat was most welcoming and showed us to our beautifully furnished double room with en-suite. After a shower( yes hot water is available in the bathroom) greatly refreshed, we had a long cool drink before dinner was served. Pat and her staff are very attentive and helpful and go to great lengths to make you welcome.
The meals were delicious and of very good quality, both local and western cuisine is on the menu.
This is a great experience in a very tranquil and slow paced lifestyle, an ideal way to relax with natures wonders!

Room Tip: The two front rooms are en-suite

Working at the West coast of Sri Lanka I was happy to get away from the pollution and hazzle. After travelling by train to Ella I met a driver, sent by Patty (the owner) to take me to the guesthouse. It's really in the middle of nowhere, though a bus is passing every hour on a small road, going to Banderawela. I received a warm welcome and during my stay over 5 days I felt really at home. Patty has travelled a lot and can serve you anything you like. The first floor keeps 4 spacious rooms with french windows and attached bathrooms. There is a livingroom you can share and a balcony where you can enjoy the meals together with a great view over the hilly landscape. On the Morning mist estate the tea plants are growing without any chemical treatment and you can watch the women plucking the leafes. The temperature is just perfect, never hot, and the area is mosquito-free ! I enjoyed the tranquility, the great hospitality and company of Patty and her staff. Hope to go back soon ! For transport I recommend to contact Patty before your arrival or departure. She can organize it for you.
