Our dinner was included with our room (reviewed separately). The meal was FABULOUS! Huge portions of tasty rice and curry. The rice was perfectly cooked, and the dishes just kept coming. I think we ordered #1... it had so many choices that were all tasty. The garlic curry was absolutely amazing! The "drumsticks" were also super tasty. I'd go back just for the food - it's worth the short walk from the centre of town.

Fabulous vegetarian curries. Wide range of dishes. Very well priced. Good service. Nice atmosphere. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you want to experience real Sri Lankan food!

Ordered meal during the day and brought some beers as no licence to serve. Ordered the usual Sri lankan curries and excellent they were. We were the last to leave and the chef invited us in to the kitchen to show all the ingredients. Most of which we had never seen before. Really clean premises and cheap too. Tried to book a cookery class but left it too late. Would have been excellent. Great staff, great food and an enjoyable night

I didn't stay at this hotel, but came for dinner. My friend and I were travelling on a very tight budget, so even though dinner is very reasonably priced (about 450 rupees, which is less than $3.5 USD), we asked if there were any smaller dishes we could order. The staff at Rawana were so nice that they told us to share one meal, but that they'd give us extra big portions. They ended up giving us so much we could barely finish it all - rice, papadom, seven main dishes and three small dishes. The three small dishes were a spicy coconut sambol, pickled bitter gourd and pickled cucumber. The seven main dishes included beetroot, daal, spinach, potato curry, beans, and my favourite: whole garlic clove curry. They even let us bring a bottle of beer to eat with our meal (they don't sell alcohol). We were dumbstruck by how generous the staff were on top of how delicious the food was - it was the best meal we ate in the two weeks we spent in Sri Lanka. I can't recommend the food here highly enough.

One thing to keep in mind is that in Sri Lanka you often have to let restaurants know in advance that you plan to eat there - we ordered our dinner in the afternoon and came back a few hours later to eat.
