The view from the top is very nice.
The walk aint very difficult and pretty much enjoyable. We got lost a couple of time (once on our way up and once on the way down) but with a little sense of direction you can be back on track. Once you have the village in view, just ask for directions and you will be set back on track.
Be careful of the helpful locals on the train tracks who want to be your guides for a sum which we dont think is required.
If you get tired or if its raining etc, you can always stop at the train station and catch a train back to Ella (if there is one coming soon) which costs about Rs.10 for 3rd class and a 10 minute ride.
This trail has leeches, a good advice received from Mr Nelly of Forest Paradise was to spray the shoes with mosquito repellent as that will keep them from climbing, this worked till it started to rain. We spotted a few leeches on us post the rain and we used the mosquito repellent and they instantly let go.
