The wait staff is very nice but the food is sub par. It is in a great spot, right across from the Nescafé restuarant, looking down on the street. It is lit up so pretty at night so it is a good place to drink beer (their prices are better than nescafe's for beer. 180 rupiahs for beer and Nescafé charges 250 plus tax.)

They're very friendly people and the location is good, close to the excellent village pub, and to Somasiri Stores and Wimala Hotel, both of which do much better and cheaper food. Service was fine and prices average for the Ella 'strip'.

Their Sri Lankan food is poor. I asked for spicy (I mean normal Sri Lankan levels of chilli and other spices) but I was served the usual bland and tasteless guesthouse-type food. The selection of curries was poor, though the portion-size was OK.

We didn't really know where to eat and just stumbled upon this place by chance on our first night in Ella - and we're so glad we did.
The restaurant is run by a delightful mum and son. Mum cooks and the son serves and chats to the customers, his English is impeccable and he is super-helpful and really, really friendly.
We ordered the vegetarian curries and rice and the son explained each dish to us in detail and also told us not to be afraid of eating the salsa/salad as it had all been washed in bottled water.
He also has a wealth of local and national knowledge and is happy to share it all.
The food itself was tasty and imaginative and included beetroot curry (don't judge 'til you try!), cabbage and coconut, delicious dhal, a mountain of rice and more - and one set is enough for two people at 300rps, you can't get better value!
Please support these great people, you won't forget it and you'll probably go back for the great flavours!
