Thanks for staying in your guesthouse. Right in the center of Ella, with perfect staff support, tasty dinner. We got a local map for Ella rock trip, also some recommendations for next way. Rooms were average, but the view was awesome.

Decent but there were cockroaches in my room. Normally I can overlook that (maybe they got unlucky). However on check out I was charged for breakfast which I was told would be included and they add a ten percent service charge on everything! Not just food. Check your options before settling on this guest house

A van driver at the station suggested this guesthouse. It might not impress you at first but it is in a perfect location in Ella, a few steps above the town. The view is beautiful. We had rice and curry twice and it was delicious. The lady who owns the place is very nice and will treat you like family. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place if you are looking for a budget option

Some other travellers we met wanted to stay here and we were happy with their choice... We all stayed in the main house, which is an old plantation type pad with a great view of Ella Rock and a great location on the edge of the main road though raised up a hill. Our room was big with three singles (for two of us), clean and had a big bathroom with hot water.
Owners weren't overly friendly though were ok - happily gave us tea upon request and did a big load of laundry for me for 500rps. Free wifi and comfortable lounge area. Didn't eat here as there are so many good options in town.

We stayed two nights in this strange place where you don't quite know where the entrance is and who the boss is. The staff, if they could be found, were only concerned that we eat in their restaurant, any other info was a hassle for them. The restaurant was empty both days we were there, not surprising if you look at the prices and the awful cleanlyness of the place. There are loads of better options in the village, just a few steps away. One evening we came back from dinner after 10PM and were told in an unfriendly manner that we have to be in by 9.30, that's when they lock up the place. The room we had was spacious but poorly furnished (no light to read in bed), the terrasse with the great view is becoming a hazard as a portion of it is following the law of gravity down the hill. The Wifi was reasonably fast and included in the price. We paid 2300 Rp/couple/night. Next time I would look around a little longer, there are many guesthouses in Ella that have no website but offer good value for money.

I moved here because of the constant power cuts at another place (one even lasted a few hours). The power cuts were horrible but turned out to be a blessing.

This had a better location as you didn't need to climb up a road thinking which guesthouse is which in the dark, since the stairway led to the base of the hill. But inside the buildings the view was really great. Pity about some construction nearby but you can just overlook that one part of the view.

It was cheap (2500 Rs) and even if you added breakfast and dinner (500 and 300 Rs respectively) it was great value. The laundry was quick and cheap too (I don't remember how much, but it was probably because it was so cheap I couldn't remember).

The room was huge, and there was hot water. You probably wouldn't appreciate it in the day/night, but in the mornings it's a different story. Dinner was super filling and tasted really good too!

The owner and his family was really nice too. I had issues with my phone since no one at Ella could cut and insert a SIM card for an iPhone 4, but they really went all out to help, but it turned out I had to live without a proper phone until I got to Kandy. So basically if you're heading anywhere in the hill country, please ensure you have sufficient value before heading here. There were only Dialog and Airtel stores in Ella.

Stayed here for one night, wish we would have had time to stay for two. It is a very nice guesthouse with a great view! The staff/family is also very nice and helpful, and the curry and rice for dinner was also really good. Could have been a bit more spicy though. It is not the place you go if you want luxury, but a charming guesthouse for a good price.
