This was part of a 10 day tour of Sri Lanka. We arrived over the New year period. Apparently the Hotel Manager had gone away and left the staff to deal with guests. The staff didn't appear to do much - we had to ask for cups/tea/etc to be cleared away (after being on the balcony all day with cats drooling over it) and they staff mainly stood in the reception area glued to the TV. The best thing about the 'hotel' is the view - which is truly stunning. You are literally on top of the clouds - with views across Ella, the waterfalls and Little Adams Peak. After that it is downhill all the way. The rooms were dirty - we had 4 rooms - in 2 rooms the bedding was dirty, 1 room the lock on the door didn't work, in another room the shower was broken and in pieces. The rooms were scantily furnished (mainly with broken furniture). They do have mosquito nets - but I would hazard a guess that these have not been washed for many years - they were discolored and smelt awful. Because of recent rainfall there was no electricity - they had a generator but they refused to put it on except from 7-9.30pm. The most worrying thing was that after 9.30pm the staff disappeared (to party in town) and locked the reception area. The reception links the 2 halves of the hotel - so we couldn't get through reception to see our friends and beyond that it was a dreadful fire risk! I had a snake in my bathroom - no staff around, and no access to the other guests for help. The food was OK. I would seriously advise anyone to avoid this hotel - there are definitely better ones around (Holiday Inn seemed better)!

The first thing that strikes you when you first see the place is the location. It is perched at an altitude with stunning views all around. From our balcony, we had a stunning view of the valley in the distance, and could hear a waterfall in the distance. The room was pretty spacious with a comfortable bed, and a mosquito net provided. This being hill country, there are no fans or AC provided, and I assume that it is not required for most of the year. The bathroom was clean with a separate shower enclosure. However, a small grouse here is about the lack of a soap holder within the shower enclosure that made things tricky. The food served was good, with the highlight being the vegetable soup provided at dinner, which felt really nice in the cool weather. The service staff is courteous and polite. Getting to the rooms would require negotiating some steps, and so might not be suitable for the elderly or for people with dodgy knees. Apart from that, a good place to spend a night.

Having read some other positive comments on T A, I would almost think we stayed in a different place.
Our first impression was the driver managing to get us to our room via a dirt track that avoided us having to climb three flights of stairs to get there.
Once in a room we noticed there was just a bed with mosquito net , some basic furniture and a balcony that had doors out to it- if you could get them open more than half way. From the balcony what would have been a commanding view many years ago was now obliterated by a row of 30 meter high eucalyptus trees across the street.
We were asked to chose from a menu that had two options and we had to order mid afternoon in advance. I guess this gives the chef a chance to go down town and purchase the essentials. The restaurant lacked any ambience at all and when advised that we could not get a drink with our meal ( no permit apparently) we ate in a hurry to get back to our room where we had some alcohol of our own. Suddenly we were quietly told that a bottle of wine was available and would be sent to our room.It turned up -no glasses though. The one solitary glass in our room had the skeletal remains of an insect stuck in the bottom of the glass in a substance that had evaporated in the distant past...
Soon though two wine glasses turned up and we had it on the balcony. The room had no TV, tea, coffee, internet or fridge. As we had prepaid as part of our tour we had no idea what the room rate was.
Break fast was ok but basic .Two other couples sat in silence near us and I got the impression that at any minute Basil from faulty towers would suddenly appear telling us that there had been a terrible mistake !!
One redeeming feature was the appearance of an unusual lizard on a tree next to our table- red head ,black body with yellow stripes
Over all the impression we left with was one of disappointment

This hotel was chosen for us by our Sri Lankan based tour operator as part of a nine day/eight night tour.
We stayed for one night, our room was large with a mosquito net over the bed. It had a huge balcony with wonderful views of Little Adams Peak. It contained a fridge but no tv. The bathroom was a typically large Indian style wet room.
Dinner was from a set menu, which in keeping with other similar small hotels, had to be ordered in advance. But I have to say that their onion soup was the best that I have ever tasted. They told us that dinner service finished at 8.30pm but were happy to accommodate us at 9pm, although the courses did come a little hurriedly.
Breakfast was the usual eggs cooked to order, fruit juice, toast & jam, tea and coffee.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the room was very clean.
A word of warning, there are a number of steps that need to be climbed to enter the hotel. So it is not suitable for anyone with problems in this area.

Sky Green offers rather modest accommodations more than made up for by magnificent views and a very helpful staff. Large balconies, tasty food. Recommended. Ella is a cute town filled with backpackers. Train ride through tea country is unforgettable.
