Without a doubt one of my favourite stops on my entire Sri Lanka tour was Sita's Heaven. Nestled in the hillside just outside Ella's village, over looking both Ella rock and little Adams Peak, the views served up here are almost as amazing as the quite incredible food. This is heaven. JP is a host with the most, and his lovely son will do anything to help you. The hikes around this place have to be done, and don't eat out, you will regret it. We stayed here for a few nights, had it not been for time restrictions, it would have been longer.

We had a great stay here at this family run guest house. The food was out of this world, and was by far the best food we had in 2 1/2 weeks of traveling around Sri Lanka! It was so good that we couldn't even consider eating anywhere else the 3 nights we were there. J.P the owner is a lovely man, we spent a whole night chatting away and learnt a lot about Sri Lanka as well as his admirable philosophies on life. The view from the guest house is quite stunning and the guest house it's self is very clean and comfortable with huge beds (7ft long) and light and airy rooms. We can't recommend this place enough and would definitely come back.

That was definitely the best place I have been during my travel through Sri Lanka.
The rooms are clean, there are big beds (7 feet/ 2,10m) with comfortable mattresses and you have a very beautiful garden with beautiful wall light outside, comfortable chairs where you can lean back and a great view on Ella's Rock. Furthermore it is really silent in the evening and at night as this room is not on the main road. And all that for a very cheap price. What do you want more? Maybe some good lunch or breakfast? No problem, J.P. and his son serve you breakfast (delicious fruits from his own garden) or make you a nice lunch from the menu which is brought to your room.
Furthermore, J.P. offers some (partially self-painted) good maps from Ella, helping you to find things easier and making your way through the forest to get to the main road.
The guesthouse offers laundry service and can arrange tours. I felt so comfortable at that house so I decided to spend another night after 3 nights there. The only disadvantage might be that you have to walk about 5 minutes through the forest to get to your place, but in my eyes this is even at night completely not dangerous, just don't forget your pocket lamp.
I don't think that there is any need to go that expensive places at Ella, I think that Sita's Heaven is partially comparable with those places but with a much smaller price.
Definitely a 5.

Great spot, a 20 min walk from Ella's centre, with a wonderful view of Ella Gap from the shared balcony (shared with 3 rooms).

Basic room, a bit stuffy. Shower was either really hot or really cold.

Online i requested a double, but we were shown to a twin when we arrived. Fortunately there was a double available, but worth checking if you book in advance.

Perfectly adequate based on the price.

Room Tip: There are 3 rooms on the 1st floor main building. Garden rooms have a better view.

Our stay was just perfect.
We highly enjoyed the terrace with a great view on the Ella's rock. The guest house is located only 5 minutes from the town through a pleasant path.
J.P. was a perfect hiking guide (it was his former job) and we learned many thing about wildlife and singhalese lifestyle.
We had the pleasur to follow an amasing cooking lesson with his wife (whose cooking skills are awesome).

At last the best accomadation during our 2 weeks trip!

Our family of 5 had 2 upstairs rooms here and had mixed feelings about it. Rooms were small, dark and bathrooms not super clean. Views and service were great, and owner really nice. We got the impression it was going through a difficult patch but could be a nicer place with a little more care.

I stayed one night and wished I could have stayed longer, I really liked this place a lot and can recommend it to anyone who wants a peaceful, quiet place to relax and enjoy Ella.

I didn't stay in the main building but in the annex which contains three rooms, 5, 6 and 7. My room (6) was immaculate, and the bathroom was just amazing, one of the nicest I've seen in a long time of travelling. Of note is the shower which unlike nearly all showers in Sri Lanka and India, actually has its own enclosure so that water doesn't spill all over the bathroom floor and flood it. The pressure was really good and I had perfectly hot water (sometimes too hot, had to adjust!)

Each of the 3 annex rooms has a patio area in front with a table and chairs, and each is separated by a small wall from the next, so it's a really nice and cosy seating area if you want to sit outside. Oh, and the view of Ella Rock is just spectacular! You could sit there all day and just enjoy it without having to go to Ella at all.

The mattress was incredibly comfy, as were the pillows, and I had a really sound sleep. Also, I have to comment on the lighting, it's really nice and subdued, not white light but a little yellow/orange and it really makes the room feel that much more cozy. In fact the decor in generally has been really well thought out.

Rooms 6 and 7 are larger than 5, 7 probably being the nicest as it has the best view of Ella Rock, but 5 and 6 having not bad views either.

The one downside of the annex, or at least of room 6, is that because the internet router is in the main building, wifi wasn't working there. This was a really small price to pay given all the other benefits of the room.

And the ownder JP and his son Sithara were both very friendly and decent people, I didn't get a chance to socialise much with the unfortunately.

Room Tip: If internet isn't a major thing for you, go for the annex, rooms 7, 6 then 5 in that order (5 is...
