This is a simple basic, cheap, clean place that is good value for money. Its a house with rooms that has been coverted to a guest house. Its a short walk uphill from town. The owners are nice people and will go out of the the way to help you in your need ( directions, suggestions, food selction, sites around ella etc). My bed was hard with average pillows, I made sure that I closed all the windows in the evening so that the mosquitoes stayed out.

A suprise for me was the well maintained tennis court. The road into the compound is a mud road with potholes, they provide accomodation for your driver which is nice.

Cynthia and her son were very prompt in email and helped is all the way. The food ( breakfast) was nice but nothing out of the oridinary for Sri Lankan guest house. There seemed to be a lot of fruit but they were all semi-ripe or un eatable ( maybe the wrong selection of fruit for the season). Over all a well above average place and a quite and reasonable retreal for a long stay but not really my kind of hotel -- I missed my fluffy pillows & soft bed

Thanks to their well organized website, we could have enough information about this guesthouse in advance. Cynthia gave us kind information promptly whenever we sent inquiry on the email.
It was nice, peaceful, and tasteful accommodation. The room was large and clean. We enjoyed every meals here which was really tasty!
Comparing to Haputale, Ella town was very small and more touristic. Little Adams Peak was nice, but it was full of tourists. Although there were not many things to see there for us, but we think it was worth to visit Ella because of this wonderful guesthouse. We appreciate them for making our stay comfortable!

My best stay in Sri Lanka. A world away, amougst birds an trees. So relaxing. Service was first class. Only short walk from Ella. Tennis court even!!! My room was huge, with great pillows!!! And I had my best breakfast in whole trip, enough for 4 people to eat- not one.
They even organised the best Tuk Tuk driver of my trip to take me to the dambatenne tea factory and Lipton summit.
Stay here!

Cynthia the host, the reasonnable price and the breakfast are the principal reasons to come here.
We stayed only one night, coming from Nuwara Eliya to Uda Walawe.
We only came to Ella because we wanted to take the train from Nuwara Eliya to Ella, which was one of the best expérience we had in Sri Lanka.
There is really nothing much to do or see here if you don't hike.
Breakfast was the best we had In Sri Lanka: the same that every hôtel In SL serve but only tastier and excellent homemade chapati that we didn't have anywhere else.
For one night In Ella, Sunnyside is a very good option, we would recommand it!
I was cold in the open air bathroom because it's kind of cold at night.
Many mosquitos in Ella! Don't Forget to bring your own mosquitos repellent!

We stayed at Sunnyside Holiday Bungalow for just 2 nights on just a short stop in Ella. The property is a charming 1950's style family house with 3 guest rooms. Our room was a good size, with a double and single bed, spotlessly clean. The house had a great covered outside space with good sitting areas with lovely gardens around it. The family were very friendly and wonderful hosts. The breakfasts were huge, with a choice of standard or Sri Lankan style - we had SL rotis and curry, with a big plate of fruit and plenty of gorgeous tea.
The house is about 10 minutes walk into Ella village, but it's a straightforward stretch of the legs. It is ideally situated for walking in the area, but we had heavy rain and couldn't get out, but spent much of our time relaxing in the house, reading and using the free WiFi.
I would happily stay here again and recommended to friends. It's a great find :)

While a little out of town (though easily in walking distance), this guesthouswe offers one of the best experiances in Sri Lanka. The rooms are large (though basic), but with constant hot water and plenty of peace and quiet, they tick all the boxes, especially in relation to the price!

The owners are unfailingly friendly and always happy to help with requests, and the food served there is some of the best food we experianced (which is remarkable given the generally high quality of food in Sri Lanka).

Great to be used as a base for hiking, or to just chill out and let the time fly by. Would definately stay there again!

We had a lovely stay at Sunnyside. The room was a bit basic, as one might expect or the price. However, there was hot water and wifi, while the rest of the property offered ample area for lounging. The owners were truly delightful hosts, offering sumptuous breakfasts and restorative afternoon coffees.

The bed was a little uncomfortable, but otherwise we had no complaints. A great find at a low price.
