“Such a pleasant stay at affordable price”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

We had a great time staying at Island Leisure Boutique Hotel and Spa. As a hotelier, I find this hotel surprisingly unique and comfortable to stay. We arrived very early in the morning at Dumaguete and we requested for a van transfer. We were picked up on time by the owner himself. Upon check in, front desk staff were courteous, nice and informative. We booked a standard room but we were surprised when they upgraded us to a deluxe room without any additional fee. The room has a homey, coziness ambiance. Well detailed decorations. Though we have some issued with the space and order in the bathroom but it was tolerable. Though we only stayed for one night, we enjoyed it much.

Room Tip: To enjoy Dumaguete, there are tempura and balot vendors at night at the boulevard with tables and ch...

When it Islands Leisure opened it created a whole new type of hotel. The boutique hotel. It remains today one of the very best examples of this type of property. Small, understated, cool, friendly and highly personal service. Our room was wonderful, funky and big enough for the two of us. Everything was updated,There was a small business center if needed. The location of the hotel was also perfect, we had no set plans for the weekend, we just love walking around and going with the flow .

We stayed in an aircon room with shared bathroom for 5 nights. This is a small boutique hotel with swimming pool and spa facilities. The hotel decor and garden area is superbly done and gives a wonderful relaxed atmosphere for the traveller. We found Daryl and his staff extremely friendly, very helpful and efficient. The room price was good value for money, and we can thoroughly recommend the hotel.

We had difficulty finding the place since the tricycle drivers are not familiar with the place, its a good thing Daryl, the manager/co -owner, was always available on the phone for inquiries. When we arrived the red door entrance got my attention, as I opened the door I was surprised to see a beautiful and relaxing place, the design of the place was overwhelming. I am not an artistic person but I know how to appreciate a good design if I see it. I instantly felt peaceful and at home. What you see in their website pictures is what you get. The rooms are spacious, though I find the bathroom a bit small. At night, I love hanging out in their garden or mini pool, its so quiet. Finally, the staff are very hospitable and Daryl is very considerate. I just hope in the future they will be able to serve lunch and dinner. I would definitely stay here when I get back to Dumaguete, its worth every peso. Affordable with a 4 star vibe.

Room Tip: Since the rate is so affordable, I would suggest you book the premiere rooms.

Three of us stayed in Islands Leisure for a weekend. We originally thought it was closer to the city and some tricycle drivers had trouble finding it but we're glad we booked! The room itself was a little small but we had booked a double room with a spare mattress. The design of the hotel is quirky and pretty with a nice relaxing vibe. There's a small pool and seating area which was perfect for us to just chill out by. It was a shared bathroom although only between 3 rooms near us which were empty while we were there. The water was cold ish, but nice as it was so hot! Breakfast was included and we were given a small choice. Overall this is a lovely relaxing place with friendly and helpful staff, about a mile or so out of Dumagete itself.

ok, this one is a bit weird, as the hotel was a great value, about fifty dollars Canadian per night. The room is very large (upgraded one), with a kitchen, fridge, microwave, flat screen tv, comfy bed and very decent decor. The bathroom is small and the shower is a tight fit for two rather small people. Its close to downtown and food stops and the boardwalk and the airport. Its easy to catch a cab outside to get where you need to go.

Now the staff. They were not very good, our room did not get cleaned once, and we had to ask for new towels. We tried to make two booking for the spa, for a foot spa and for a massage, and they managed to screw up both bookings. With that said, when we finally did get the massage, it was very good, and very cheap, and the foot spa was great as well.

There was also supposed to be a breakfast included in our room deal, but they never mentioned this till the last morning, and then the breakfast was quite good. There is a restaurant there, sort of..very small and not promoted at all, we went out to eat every night, lots of choices close by. There is also a baker just down the block which is amazing..

when we went to leave, they said they had to check the rooms, which was fine, but we basically had to start walking out before someone came to finally check them.

So, the rooms are a great value, very clean and comfortable, but the staff is very very poor. Good location, nice and safe and easy to get a cab and to get to the downtown.

Room Tip: get the upgrade room, its so worth it. eat out, lost of good food nearby. make sure you ask for yo...
