“If you have nothing to do, you can do it here”
Reviewed August 1, 2012

Come on a wednesday for the livestock market. Animals large and small are being purchase and can be fun to watch provided to can stand the to see their droppings. There are vendors selling fresh fish , vegetables, trinkets and stuffs. Eateries abound offering fresh seafood. A stall or two also offer roasted pig .

A short ride from Dumaguete by Ceres bus .So if you do not know what to do for the day, do it here.

“This Has Gone Downhill”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

I live 6KM away from the market and used to go there on Wednesdays to buy fresh shark.

Last time we went there, we were barraged by more beggers and "badjao" and there wasn' tmany customers. We decided to give it a try again after a few months absence and it's deteriorated to nearly nothing.

There is no sidewalks or walking area. So, the morning shopping is dodging cars and having livestock trucks pierce your ears with horns. the beggers were gone, but so were most of the vendors. Dozens of dried fish stalls, 2nd rate veggies (bruised and spoiled) sold at 30% more than in Dumaguete and not a single reason to ever return.

Now they've added 3 Videoke places in there so locals are yelling a cats' choir and are drunk by 10am.

Yes, it's deteriorated and gone downhill.

“Everyone Should Visit at Least Once”
Reviewed April 22, 2012

Very large and colorful market. Has a fair like atmosphere, a mixture of a local market and a flea market. All the usual fresh garden and meats and when I say fresh meat, many are still alive. Also has booths selling local (or Chinese) made goods. It only took a few hours to take it all in and that included a walk to the beach. One visit was enough, but it's worth the trip.

“A worthwhile experience to see, smell, and taste the local culture.”

Great place to experience most things local all in one place. Spend some time and a little money and enjoy the local sellers and buyers.
