I got foodpoisoned twice in four days, the doctor can confirm it. Allthough the first night there was nobody at the hotel who could even call for a doctor. When I told the management, the whole managemnet team just shrug and said they have not been ill for three months.

We where a group of six and five of us suffered from the bad food. I have been travelling more than 15 times to Tanzania in the past five years always eating anything, at hotels or local food, in tiny restuarnts or just off the road and I have never ever had any problems with the food.

And I did have to pay for the food.

Thank you for taking time to provide feedback on our lodge. Firstly, its not nice to have anything unpleasant happening especially on holiday. So, whichever way things happened my sincere sympathy. However from the hotel's point of view it's a very inappropriate comment and we can not follow the line of thought at all.
We do not understand how it is possible to have food poisoning on the same evening of arrival. Furthermore, the contact details of the doctor are available at reception, restaurant and in the room information folder - any of our staff would call the doctor in case of any serious incidences or requests. We did speak to the doctor to investigate your case further, but he did not confirm food poisoning with us, which leads us to think that it was maybe a more common stomach bug. We were serving over 200 meals a day without any serious incidents. We also saw that your family was eating and drinking in our restaurant every day, which suprises us regarding your statement. We do our best to respond to customer complaints as soon as they are brought to our attention, but we heard about your problems only at check out.
Whatever the guests' problems have been, we regret that they were not able to enjoy their stay in our little paradise as much as all our other guests.

Really enjoyed our stay at Ndame. The beaches are beautiful. Had good dives at Powani reef and lake mountains. Our sons enjoyed kitesurfing. We enjoyed walking out to the reef and enjoys snorkeling amongst the beautiful coral. The chef at Ndame was very innovative and proved very good specials every day.

located right on the Paje beach, this is a great resort to enjoy the african beach, sun and hospitality. the accommodation comprises of individual bunglows with ensuite bathrooms. No aircon though but have a ceiling fan. the rooms is very basic but clean. however, you wont be spending a lot of time in the room given that the beach and awesome blue waters of Paje are right infront of you. Staff are very friendly and retaurant has some good choice of menu. tea/coffee is free all day.
located few mins walk from it is a kite surfing school if interested. i only stayed there for 3 days and regret that culd have stayed more and get my hands on the kite surfing. looking forward to come back again and will stay here again for sure.

First review i have ever done but felt this place deserved it. I just spent two days in Ndame and had one of the most relaxing times I have had in a long time. Staff are very friendly, food is excellent, rooms are very basic but clean and very adequate (not all have hot water), no air-conditioning but a really nice breeze all the time made it not necessary and there are ceiling fans. Beautiful setting and incredible beach with miles of white sand. The tides are seriously extreme and the sea can go out about a kilometer at low tide. But when in, no rocks or coral just sand under your feet in crystal clear water. Very few people bugging you trying to sell something. If you want a great place to just relax this is it. Go with your eyes open though and don't expect luxury and a buzzing atmosphere, it is not for that. Well done to the Chef.

This is a great place. Very laidback and chilled out. Nice garden with tropical vegetation. Nice clean bungalows with thatched roofs. Room is cleaned everyday and the beds made with hibiscus flower decoration. Nice hot shower. The water is clean and smelled a bit like chlorine (which we think is good). The beach is very nice (better than at Jambiani). Beachbeds available.

The staff is friendly. Free wifi. Lovely restaurant and chilled out bar. Good and safe food. The Austrian chef/manager cooks great food and is very friendly and helpfull, as is all the other staff. The water they use for washing the salads is treated through a double cleaning system (so we've been told). Breakfast is good, with everyday freshly baked cakes, pancakes, omelettes, yoghurt, cereals, fruit, etc.

The only thing is that we booked a deluxe room, but this room was smaller than the standard room. So a bit confusing. The staff couldn't really explain.
Also the tours and taxi's from the hotel are a bit overpriced.

But overall, we really liked this place very much and can highly recommend it!

Hi travel-fraggles - thank you for taking your time to give us a feeback. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our little paradise on the beach. The laid back atmosphere is important to us, and we are glad that you enjoyed it as much as you enjoyed the beach and the water. And we are happy to hear that you also had a good time with the food and our staff - certainly two of our best features.
At the moment, the luxe rooms have a higher standard because of the new fittings and new bathrooms - we do not differentiate so much for the size of the room. Nevertheless, we keep on continuing to improve our rooms, and as improvement continues, all of our rooms are going to have the same luxe standard soon.
We hope to welcome you here again one day

We stayed here for just short of a week with a large group of friends. We were able to set up a variety of excursions throughout Zanzibar, and enjoyed plenty of time on the powder white sand beaches. Highly recommend the piña coladas- made with fresh fruit. The staff were all very friendly and we had a great time with out 3 yr old who edpecially liked splashing around during low tide.

We had a very nice stay at Ndame Beach Lodge. The location is perfect. Paje is very nice when you are looking for a white beach with a beautiful sea. The rooms are very basic and also quite small, but the nice thing about the lodge is that you can spent all your time out of your room. During the night however it is very humid which makes sleeping a little bit uncomfortable. The bathroom is clean and works good (sometimes the water pressure from the shower is a little bit low, but that's not a very big issue). The ocean is very nice, but keep the tides in mind, when we were there you could not really go for a swim in the afternoon because the ocean was miles away (so no swimming for +-3 hours a day). They have WiFi although it didn't always work for me. The breakfast is great! And also the restaurant serves very good and varied food also they have a pizza oven with very tasty pizza's. The prices for the lodge and food are very reasonable so it is easy to have a long stay without overpaying. They also make very nice cocktails at the Sun Sea Bar!
They offer several day trips. We went swimming with dolphins which was very cool! Also we wanted to go snorkeling at Kizimkazi because in the brochure is said that it was very nice, but that was a delusion (or the captain didn't take us to the correct spot or it's just not a nice spot and they should take it out of the brochure). However when we told that at the reception when checking out we didn't have to pay for that, which we really appreciated! Very nice staff!

Altogether we enjoyed Ndame very much and next time when we'll visit Zanzibar we will probably return to Ndame!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the beach (with seaview). And preferably a little bit away from the restaurant, be...

Hi Marco - thank you for your review, and we are happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us so much. It always pleases us to hear that our guests enjoyed the location, the lodge and the staff - we agree with you that our staff does a fantastic job in taking care of our guests.
We hope to see you again some time in our little paradise on the beach! In the meantime, we will try to take care of the smoke coming from the pizza oven - the pizzas are yummy, but the smoke should stay outside...
